FAYETTE, IA – The Peacocks' Men's and Women's basketball teams are back in action this Friday night as Stormin' Dorman week continues. UIU will host the Golden Eagles of Minnesota, Crookston at 6 and 8 p.m. before taking on two very good Bemidji State teams on Saturday, also at 6 and 8 p.m. Tuesday's Whiteout against the Warriors of Winona State prompted the following quote from Assistant Men's Basketball Coach Keven Bradley. "It was a good turn-out. It was nice to see the support from the students who were back on campus.” The turn-out was one of the largest crowds the teams have seen since moving up to Division II play seven seasons ago.

UIU Women’s Basketball fell on Tuesday night despite a team-high 12 points from
Sam Thrapp, who now has 59 points over her last five games. The Peacocks led for most of the first half and even claimed a 7-point lead just five minutes in, but WSU used a 15-7 run in the remaining five minutes of the first half to head into the break with a one-point lead. UIU regained its lead early in the second half, but failed to match the Warrior’s offensive output down the stretch. The Warriors benefitted from several Upper Iowa turnovers converting them into 22 points en route to a 70-61 victory.
The Peacocks will look to bounce back and halt a three-game skid on Friday against the 5-9 Golden Eagles. Minnesota, Crookston has also lost its past three games, including a 58-48 loss to Bemidji State on Tuesday night.

The UIU Men's Basketball team had similar luck against their rivals.
Tucker Wentzien led the UIU Men’s Basketball team with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting on Tuesday night inside Dorman Gym, but his eighth and ninth point were especially significant. The Solon, Iowa native became just the 22nd member of the 1,000-point club mid-way through the second-period as he sunk a jumper on the baseline against the Winona State Warriors defense.
Wentzien joins the club almost three years after Matt Lesan became the 21st member of the exclusive club in February of 2010. Lesan also reached the 1,000-point plateau against the Warriors and finished his career with 1,383 points moving up to the eighth spot on the all-time scoring list.
Jim Bushkofsky is the all-time leading scorer in Upper Iowa men's basketball history as he finished his four-year career with 2,194 points after the conclusion of the 1973-74 season. Bushkofsky also holds the record for most points scored in a season with 855 during his junior campaign and sits in fourth all-time with 978 rebounds in a career. Bushkofsky's jersey hangs in the hall-of-fame hallway outside Dorman Gym. He wore number 54.

Despite Wentzien’s milestone, UIU only held one lead in the game.
Bo Pagel sunk a free throw just 47 seconds into the game to give the Peacocks a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, that lead disappeared seven seconds later as the Warriors controlled the tempo of the game with a very simple gameplan – get the ball to their leading scorer Clayton Vette and go from there.
Vette finished with a game-high 16 points on 8-of-15 shooting, while three other Warriors finished in double-figures as WSU earned the conference victory and snapped a two-game win streak for the Peacocks, 68-53.
UIU will look to get back on track against the Golden Eagles on Friday night. UMC enters the weekend having lost its last eleven games. They sit at 0-10 in the conference, while the Peacocks sit in the upper-half of the Northern Sun with a 7-3 conference record.
