Minnetonka, Minn. (Life Fitness) - The Peacocks' run at the 2012 NSIC Women's Tennis Championships ended late Saturday night when the second-seeded Warriors of Winona State claimed a 5-2 semifinal victory.
Each team won an 8-6 decision in doubles, but the Warriors won #3 doubles by an 8-2 count. Amanda Nunez and Karli Loewecke won the tight decision at #1 doubles for UIU.
Winona State earned victories at #1, #2, and #5 singles to claim the five team points needed to win. Upper Iowa posted a win at #4 singles when Angelica Alba won in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).
Loewecke came up on the short end of the most tightly contested match losing a pair of tiebreakers (7-2, 10-4) to drop the match at #2 singles.
Matches at #3 and #6 singles were retired after Winona State reached five points.
