Closing out the regular season portion of the 2011 spring schedule Saturday afternoon, the Upper Iowa women’s tennis team visited Dubuque, Iowa to compete against the Spartans of the University of Dubuque.  UIU had no trouble sweeping all nine matches from the Spartans en route to a 9-0 victory.

In doubles action, UIU allowed UD to win just four games in the three matches.  The team of Amanda Nunez and Anastasia Dabiza won their match 8-1 while Karli Loewecke and Courtney Romer swept their opponents, 8-0.  Jennah Smith and Nicole Henry took their match at #3-doubles, 8-3.

Nunez won her individual match 6-2, 6-0 before Dabiza shutout her Spartan opponent 6-0, 6-0.  Loewecke was a 6-0, 6-2 winner while Romer won 6-1, 6-0.  Henry and Smith completed the UIU sweep with 6-0, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-1 victories, respectively.

The Peacock tennis team will travel to Minneapolis, Minn. this Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17 to compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships.
