FAYETTE, Iowa - Peacock softball (6-40, 1-21 GLVC) wraps up its season against No. 17 McKendree on Saturday (Ill.) (36-12, 17-7 GLVC) and Illinois Springfield (28-18, 12-12 GLVC). Each doubleheader is at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Â

LAST TIME OUT
Upper Iowa came up short in its last two doubleheaders. The Peacocks fell twice to Missouri-St. Louis (24-22, 17-7 GLVC) on April 25 and twice to Maryville (Mo.) (22-22, 12-12 GLVC) on April 26.Â
UIU's best overall game performance was game two of the UMSL series. The Tritons had an early 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth. Taylor Hamaker later connected for a single before being brought home by an Elliott Pomeroy sacrifice fly.Â
However, in the top of the seventh, Missouri-St. Louis ripped off five runs, taking a 7-1 advantage. Upper Iowa then had two outs before Reid singled to reach first base. Emma Tautges followed her with a fielder's choice, before Jescie Comstock lined out, giving the Tritons a 7-1 victory.Â
The first inning of the first contest with UMSL proved to be the most productive inning of the weekend. UIU scored a total of three runs. The runs came off an Addyson Alber RBI single, a Cara Farnam RBI single and a sacrifice fly by Ella Perkins.Â
Alber totaled three hits with a double and scored a run on the weekend. Dani Laughlin went 5-for-10 (.500) at the plate, adding a run scored and a walk. Reid pitched a total of 12 innings, striking out six batters in each doubleheader.Â
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Laughlin is the team's leading batter, slashing a team-best .418/.478/.443. The redshirt sophomore also leads the team with 46 hits and 14 RBIs. She is ranked eighth in the conference in batting average. In conference games only, she is batting .509, the third-best in the GLVC.Â
Reagon Proud posts a team-high nine doubles and has scored a team-high 18 runs. Farnam has hit the team's only triple and leads the team with two home runs.Â
Comstock has walked a team-most 17 times. She is also tied with Tautges for a team-high three sacrifice hits.
Reid has been UIU's top pitcher on the mound, throwing 120 innings, giving up 54 earned runs on 142 hits and 16 walks. The Riverside native also has a 3.71 ERA, which is tied for 18th in the GLVC. She has struck out 85 batters, ranking 10th in the conference, and has pitched a shutout.Â
As a team, the Peacocks slash .223/.299/.292 on the season. The team also has 232 hits, 49 doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 97 RBIs and 109 runs scored. The pitching staff also allows the third fewest walks in the GLVC with 109.Â
AROUND THE GLVC
Peyton Cusack of UIndy (51-3, 25-1 GLVC) won GLVC Player of the Week after leading her team to a 4-0 weekend, including a pair of wins over top 25 McKendree. She batted 7-for-8 (.875), adding four walks and a .917 on-base percentage. The Manhattan, Illinois native also totaled two doubles, scored six runs and scored six runs.Â
Indianapolis swept the weekly awards, as Caitlin Buente boasted GLVC Pitcher of the Week. The freshman threw 10 innings in two starts, striking out 10 batters. She only gave up one earned run to McKendree on six hits and two walks.Â
UIndy took first, clinching the regular-season championship and a GLVC tournament berth. The other teams that clinched a berth are Missouri S&T (31-15, 18-6 GLVC) in second, McKendree in third, Missouri-St. Louis in fourth and Rockhurst (Mo.) (28-16, 15-8 GLVC) in fifth.Â
There are three more spots left. Illinois Springfield sits in sixth, Maryville sits in seventh and Drury (Mo.) (22-26, 12-13 GLVC) sits in eighth right now. The two teams that sit outside looking in are Lewis (Ill.) (21-25, 10-12 GLVC) in ninth and William Jewell (Mo.) (19-27, 10-14 GLVC).Â
There are two GLVC teams ranked within the top 25 of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Poll. Indianapolis moved two spots from No. 4 to No. 2, receiving 381 points. McKendree moved down a spot from No. 16 to No. 17, receiving 144 points.Â

McKendree is 2-2 in its last four contests. The Bearcats fell twice to UIndy on April 25, but beat Lewis twice on April 26.Â
Lauren Harris leads the team, slashing .463/.503/.848. She also leads the team with 53 RBIs and 15 home runs. In the GLVC, Harris ranks second in RBIs, second in hits with 77, second in runs scored (55) and is tied for third in home runs.
Jasmine Myers has walked a team-high 25 times. The junior ranks 11th in the conference in stolen bases. Layenee Tapp posts a team-most six stolen bases.Â
Sami Huck's pitched a team-high 156.2 innings, allowing 46 earned runs on 112 hits and 31 walks. The senior from Potosi, Missouri, also has nine shutouts, 207 strikeouts and a 2.06 ERA. She leads the GLVC in strikeouts and is third in the GLVC in wins with 19.Â
As a team, McKendree is first in the conference with a .496 slugging percentage. The team ranks fifth with a .311 batting average and a .385 on-base percentage. The Bearcats are also second in the GLVC in both home runs with 50 and RBIs with 264.Â
Head Coach Heather Tarter is in her fifth season and has an overall record of 154-95. Tarter played at Northern Iowa for her junior and senior years of college.Â

Illinois Springfield lost its last four games. UIS dropped a doubleheader to McKendree on April 19 and a doubleheader to Indianapolis on April 26.
Rosie Bartletti slashes a team-best .329/.434/.521. She leads the team with 12 doubles. The Springfield, Illinois, native is also first in the GLVC in stolen bases with 44 and fourth in scoring runs with 48.Â
Emme Steward has a team-high .533 slugging percentage and a team-high six home runs. Bailey Masching posts a team-most four triples. She is sixth in the conference in strikeoutsÂ
Calista Bartletti has tossed a Prairie Stars-high 132 innings, giving up 48 earned runs on 116 hits and 52 walks. She is also sixth in the conference in strikeouts with 112.Â
Illinois Springfield records a .371 on-base percentage, which ranks eighth among GLVC teams. The team is also first in the conference in sacrifice flies with 19 and second in walks with 171. UIS is tied for the third-most triples in the league with 11.Â
Shannon Guthrie is in her 12th season as head coach. She is the winningest coach in program history with an overall record of 278-220. The program's best season under her leadership came in 2018, when the team took first in the GLVC, won the GLVC tournament and advanced to the NCAA Super Regional.Â
