Peacocks gear up for the 27th GLVC Women’s Golf Championship

UIU begins play on Friday, with Babinski starting at 7:54 a.m. from hole 10

FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa women's golf competes at the GLVC Women's Golf Championship in Peru, Indiana, on April 17-19. The tournament is held at the Rock Hollow Golf Club.

The team all starts from hole 10. Fern Babinski tees off at 7:54 a.m., Brynn Bonefas tees off at 8:03 a.m., Delaney Martin tees off at 8:12 a.m., Lizzy Ellis tees off at 8:21 a.m. and Addison Weber tees off at 8:31 a.m. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks placed second with a score of 341 at the William Penn Spring Shootout on April 8. The team was led by Weber, who won her first individual tournament with a score of 77 (+7). 

Ellis tied for sixth, shooting 86 (+16). Martin tied for 10th, scoring 88 (+18). Bonefas tied for 14th, totaling 90 (+20). Babinski finished 16th, shooting 91 (+21).

MEET INFO
This is the 27th year of the GLVC Women's Golf Championship, a 54-hole stroke-play event where individuals will be awarded medals. The top four teams will compete head-to-head in stroke play before moving on to the medal/match play to crown the champion.

A total of 36 holes will be played on Friday, April 17, followed by 28 holes on Saturday, April 18. The semifinals and finals of match play are scheduled for Sunday, April 19. The teams competing in the championship include Lincoln (Mo.), Quincy (Ill.), Maryville (Mo.), McKendree (Ill.), Illinois-Springfield, Drury (Mo.), UIndy, Truman State (Mo.), William Jewell (Mo.), Missouri-St. Louis, Lewis (Ill.) and Rockhurst (Mo.).

The GLVC Women's Golf Championship will once again be streamed live on all GLVC Sports Network (GLVCSN) platforms, including GLVCSN.com, iOS/Android mobile apps, and Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV OTT apps. 

The Rock Hollow Golf Club is an 18-hole par 72 course built in 1995. It was voted the No. 8 best public golf course in Indiana by Golf Digest in 2021-22. 

2025 GLVC Championship
UIndy won the championship last year, defeating Drury, 4-1, in the semifinals. Indianapolis then beat Missouri-St. Louis in the championship, 3-2. The Greyhounds Caroline Whallon won the individual portion, shooting 220 (+7). She shot 71, 76 and 63, respectively. 

UIU did not advance past stroke play, placing 11th with a score of 1026 (+174). The Peacocks' best round was the second round, when they shot 336 (+52). The team shot 348 (+64) in round one and 342 (+58) in round three. 

Former Upper Iowa golfer Katie Schweers placed a team-best 10th place, tying two other golfers with a total score of 235 (+22). Ellis took 54th with a score of 262 (+49). Weber and Martin tied with a score of 266 (+53). Bonefas finished 67th with a score of 284 (+71).
