FAYETTE, Iowa - The Peacocks (5-25, 0-6 GLVC) are traveling to Missouri to face William Jewell (Mo.) (11-19, 2-6 GLVC) on Saturday and Rockhurst (Mo.) (15-12, 3-5 GLVC) on Sunday. UIU squares off with WJC and RU in doubleheaders at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, Upper Iowa dropped doubleheaders against Quincy (Ill.) (6-22, 2-4 GLVC) and Truman State (Mo.) (11-21, 3-5 GLVC). The Peacocks lost 12-10 in eight innings in game one to the Hawks and 7-2 in game two. The team then lost 11-3 and 6-0 to the Bulldogs.Â
Dani Laughlin batted .786, going 11-for-14 at the plate, earning herself Yoga Genesis Women's Athlete of the Week. The redshirt sophomore also totaled a double and four RBIs, scoring a team-high three runs. Her double came during a 4-for-4 performance in game two of the contests with Quincy.
After trailing 12-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one against the Hawks, Dorothy Ziebell knocked a grand slam to left field to send the game to extra innings. This was her first home run of the season. The Austin, Texas native recorded three hits with a team-best two doubles, three walks, four RBIs and two runs scored. Â
Sara Reid pitched 15 innings, allowing 18 earned runs on 23 hits. She also struck out seven batters. At the plate, the senior recorded two hits with a double and three RBIs.Â
AROUND THE GLVC
Infielder Anna Frafjord of Lewis (Ill.) (12-10, 3-1 GLVC) earned GLVC Player of the Week after guiding the Flyers to an 11-1 week, including two wins against Truman St. and William Jewell. She was 14-for-31 (.452) at the plate with four walks and an on-base percentage of .514. The Sussex, Wisconsin native drove in 18 runs, scoring 11 of herself.Â
Rosie Bartketti of Illinois Springfield (21-9, 5-3 GLVC) took home Pitcher of the Week after throwing two complete games through 13 innings, giving up one earned run on six hits and three walks. She had a 0.54 ERA with 13 strikeouts.Â
There are two GLVC teams ranked within the top 25 of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Poll. UIndy (26-3, 7-1 GLVC) stayed at No. 9 with 269 votes, while McKendree (Ill.) (25-5, 4-0 GLVC) moved down two spots to No. 18 with 125 votes, after splitting a series with Southwest Baptist (Mo.) (13-17, 3-5 GLVC).Â
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Laughlin slashes a team-best .432/.495/.466. She also leads the team with 38 hits and 14 RBIs. Reagon Proud has a team-high six doubles and has scored a team-high 14 runs. Cara Farnam has the team's only triple and leads the team with two home runs. Jescie Comstock has walked a team-most 13 times, Kaylee Marhefke has a team-most two sacrifice flies, and Emma Tautges has a team-most three sacrifice hits.Â
Reid has been UIU's top player on the mound, throwing 96.1 innings, giving up 34 earned runs on 101 hits and 14 walks. The senior also has a 2.47 ERA, has struck out 53 batters and has pitched a shutout.Â
On defense, the Peacocks have 586 putouts, while the pitching staff has thrown a total of 88 strikeouts. At the plate, UIU has connected for 175 hits with 32 doubles, five home runs, a triple, 78 RBIs and scored 88 runs.Â
ABOUT THE CARDINALS - Saturday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.Â
William Jewell started the weekend with a win and ended it with a win, going 2-2 overall. The Cardinals won their first game against UIndy, but lost the second. The team lost its first game to Lewis, but won its second.Â
Mikayla Chairez slashes a team-best .474/.536/.753. The senior also leads the team with five home runs and 10 doubles. Emma Jane Ogle and Avery Webster are tied for a team-high two triples. Amanda Chung has a team-best 20 RBIs.Â
Regan Bennett boasts a team-most 52 innings pitched, allowing 31 earned runs on 64 hits and 26 walks. She also has a 4.17 ERA and 15 strikeouts.Â
Emma Ryan is in her first season with William Jewell. She previously coached a season at Avila, where she led them to a 32-12 overall record and a third-place finish in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.Â

Rockhurst swept Illinois Springfield last Saturday, before losing a doubleheader to No. 9 UIndy on Sunday. The Hawks face Lewis on Saturday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.Â
McKenna Lester leads the team, slashing .410/.456/.506. Emily Berry has a team-best .621 slugging percentage. The Blue Springs, Missouri, native has a team-best 25 RBIs, 35 hits and 11 doubles. Former Peacock Taylor Sedam has scored a team-high 23 runs, while Claire Long has hit a team-high four home runs.Â
Avery Huffman is the most experienced pitcher, throwing 88.2 innings. She's given up 34 earned runs on 67 hits and 41 walks. The senior also has a 2.68 ERA and has struck out 105 batters.
Danna Goss is in her third season as the head coach. She has an overall record of 50-62.Â
