FAYETTE, Iowa - UIU men's basketball (10-2, 5-0 GLVC) continues conference play this week at home. Upper Iowa faces UIndy (6-7, 4-1 GLVC) on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Lewis (Ill.) (4-9, 2-3 GLVC) on Saturday at 3 p.m.

New this year, tickets for all Peacock home events can be purchased digitally at tickets.uiu.edu. Single game tickets are now available online and at the ticket booth on gameday. If you want to pay in person, both Harms-Eischeid Stadium and Dorman Memorial Gymnasium are now accepting all major credit cards, checks and cash.
LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks began 2026 with two wins in St. Louis. UIU beat Maryville (Mo.) (2-12, 0-6 GLVC), 95-73, on Jan. 2 and Missouri-St. Louis (9-6, 3-3 GLVC), 79-67, on Jan. 4.
Upper Iowa controlled both games from start to finish. The Peacocks had a 17-7 run to open the game against Maryville. During that key stretch, UIU was 4-of-8 (50%) from the field, 3-of-6 (50%) from three and 6-of-7 (85.7%) from the free throw line. Upper Iowa never trailed in the game and held on to earn its second 20-point victory of the season.
The Peacocks opened the game against Missouri-St. Louis on fire, jumping out to a 14-4 lead behind 6-of-7 (85.7%) shooting from the field. Upper Iowa controlled the contest throughout, including building a 58-38 advantage four minutes into the second half before the Tritons used a 13-3 run over the next three minutes to cut the deficit to 61-51. The Peacocks answered immediately as sophomore guard Jack Miller knocked down a crucial three-pointer to spark a 7-0 run, sealing the UIU victory
Redshirt junior forward Kyle Hrnicir had a double-double in the win against UMSL with 10 points and 15 rebounds. He also had four assists, a block and an assist in the game. In the game against the MU, Hrncir had 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal.
Miller scored a team-high 16 points in the win over Missouri-St. Louis. He also recorded 11 points, two assists, a block and an assist in the win over Maryville.
Through both contests, senior guard Trey Lewis averaged 13.5 points, five assists, three rebounds and a steal. Junior guard Tate Petersen posted an average of 10.5 points, two assists and a rebound. Freshman forward Cael Reichter averaged 6.5 points, five rebounds and an assist.
NABC POLL
Upper Iowa is ranked No. 25 and has received 32 votes in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll. This is the second time this season that the Peacocks have been ranked. The last time they were ranked was on December 16th, when the team was ranked No. 24.
GLVC opponent Missouri S&T (8-2, 2-1 GLVC) is ranked No. 16 and received 154 points in the latest poll. The Miners were previously ranked No. 17. McKendree (Ill.) (10-3, 3-2 GLVC) received five votes. Central Missouri (12-4), which Upper Iowa fell 84-79 to on Nov. 20, received 22 votes.
STATISTICS SUMMARY
Hrncir leads UIU in points per game (ppg) with 18.6. He also leads in rebounds per game (rpg) with 9.5 and in assists per game (apg) with four.
In the GLVC, Hrncir ranks first in rebounds per game, fifth in points per game and fourth in assists per game. He ranks fifth nationally in double-doubles (seven), 18th in rebounds per game and 28th in defensive rebounds per game.
Lewis is averaging 15.1 ppg, 2.9 apg, 3.3 rpg and 1.3 spg. He is third in the conference and 33rd nationally in free-throw percentage (89.95%).
Miller averages 10.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg and 1.5 spg. Petersen is averaging 10.7 ppg, 1.4 rpg and 1.2 apg off the bench. Reichter averages 6.6 ppg and 4.6 rpg.
Upper Iowa averages 87.4 points per game and has made 367-of-767 (47.8%) of its shot attempts. The team has also shot 114-for-319 (35.7%) from 3-point range. The Peacocks also average 36.4 rebounds, 16.5 assists and 8.8 steals per game.
In the GLVC, UIU ranks first in field goal percentage, second in points per game and third in offensive rebounds per game (12.83). Nationally, Upper Iowa ranks 11th in assist/turnover ratio (1.52), 12th in turnover margin (5.4), 20th in scoring offense and 27th in bench points per game (32.92).
AROUND THE GLVC
Upper Iowa and Illinois Springfield (9-4, 5-0 GLVC) are the only teams with an undefeated conference record. The Prairie Stars beat William Woods (Mo), 108-67, on Dec. 31 and UIndy, 91-74, on Jan. 2.
On Jan. 5, Drury's (Mo.) (6-7, 1-4 GLVC) freshman guard KeShaun Thomas earned his first GLVC Player of the Week award. He averaged 24.5 points and seven rebounds against Rockhurst (Mo.) (9-4, 3-2 GLVC) and William Jewell (Mo.) (6-7, 2-3 GLVC). During the week, he shot 16-for-23 (70%) from the field and 15-for-19 (79%) from the charity stripe.
ABOUT THE GREYHOUNDS - Thursday at 7 p.m.
UIndy split its previous contests, with a 1-1 record. Indianapolis lost, 91-74, to Illinois Springfield on January 2 and beat McKendree, 82-75, on January 4.
Last season, the Grehounds topped the Peacocks, 93-76. Forward Nick Reid scored 34 points and hauled in 8 rebounds, while Hrncir recorded a double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds. The leading scorer for UIndy was guard Brody Whitaker, with 23 points.
Senior guard Carmelo Harris averages a team-high 15.4 points per game for the Greyhounds. He and junior forward Shaun Arnold average a team-best 2.8 assists per game. Arnold also leads the team in rebounds per game with 7.6.
UIndy is coached by first-year head coach Scott Heady. He spent the last seven years as the head coach of Marian University in Indianapolis.
ABOUT THE FLYERS - Saturday at 3 p.m.
Lewis is 2-1 in its previous games. The Flyers beat East-West (Ill.), 96-49, on Dec. 30, fell to McKendree, 68-44, on Jan. 2 and beat Maryville, 86-66, on Jan. 4.
Upper Iowa and Lewis split last year's season series. On Jan. 9, the Peacocks won 105-89, and on Mar. 1, the Flyers won 103-99. For UIU, Reid averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and Hrncir averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds through the season series. For Lewis, now graduated Rob Stroud averaged 25 points and 7.5 rebounds through the season series.
Redshirt sophomore guard Arius Ailjosius leads the Flyers in scoring with 18.5 points per game. Freshman forward Timofei Komissarov averages a team-high four rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Cale Cosme posts a team-best 3.5 assists per game.
Lewis head coach Nick Rocco is in his first season as the head coach of the Flyers. He previously served as an assistant coach for the last eight years under Scott Trost, who retired in September.
