WAVERLY, Iowa - The Upper Iowa women's golf team shot 636 (+60) with rounds of 317 (+29) and 319 (+31) to place sixth of 21 teams at the Wartburg Fall Invitational. UIU's Addison Weber shot 77 (+5) after Saturday's 70 (-2) to finish tied for fourth individually.
This marks Weber's career-best two-round score in the sophomore's young career. Her previous best was 165 (+21) at last season's Watkins Invitational. The two rounds on the weekend mark the lowest of her career individually as well.
Graduate Delaney Martin led the Peacocks on Sunday, shooting 76 (+4) to total a score of 157 (+13). This marked a career low two-round score for Martin, beating 2023's Watkins Invitational score of 169 (+25). She moved up 13 places to finish tied for 18th and shot 38 (+2) on both the front and back nine.
Brynn Bonefas shot 82 (+10) on Sunday to finish with a total of 162 (+18) and tie for 36th. Fern Babinski shot 85 (+13) on Sunday for a total of 171 (+27), tying for 82nd. Lizzy Ellis moved up nine placements to 93rd after rounds of 90 (+18) and 84 (+12) for a total of 174 (+30).
UIU was the third-best team on par fives at the Invitational, shooting 15 over par. Weber played the best of any golfer on par fives at the tournament as she was two under par. Her six total birdies tied for the fourth most by any golfer.
The Peacocks finished one stroke behind Carthage College (Wis.) in fifth and five strokes ahead of Illinois Wesleyan's "B" team in seventh. Wisconsin-Stout and Dubuque tied for first shooting 607 (+31). Dubuque won the tournament via a tiebreaker of the fifth team member's score.
Wisconsin-Stout's Julia Imai won the invitational individually, shooting 143 (-1) after a tournament-best 67 (-5) on Sunday. Lexi Mantefeul of Carthage shot 72 (E) both days to finish in second place. Brin Neumann of Wisconsin-Stout shot 146 (+2) in third place.
Upper Iowa is back in action on Sept. 15-16 for the CSP/MSU Fall Brawl at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wisconsin.
