Peacocks Seek Victory in St. Louis

THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK SOFTBALL… Upper Iowa will venture to St. Louis, Mo. for a pair of double headers. The Peacocks will take on Maryville on Saturday, Apr. 12 at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. before going up against Missouri-St. Louis, Sunday, Apr. 13 at 12 and 2 p.m.

MERCY RULE TRIUMPH… Upper Iowa posted their largest margin of victory this past weekend, as they took down Lincoln 13-4 through five innings. Reagon Proud put together the best game of her freshman campaign, as she hit a perfect 3-3 with two runs, three RBIs and one double. Kylie Doty also recorded a perfect 3-3 performance at the plate, where she scored two runs, hit three RBIs, and posted one double. Serah Shafer also garnered a flawless batting average as she hit 4-4, while scoring two runs with two RBIs. Tristin Doster recorded a 3-4 mark at the plate, where she matched Doty with a team-high three RBIs while scoring one run. On the mound, Dorothy Ziebell pitched a complete game, where she allowed just one walk on 27 batters faced.
 
HOMER HITTERS… In Upper Iowa's first game against the Miners, Taylor Sedam recorded a solo shot over the left field wall during her first at bat. Doster would later add a two RBI homer out to right center, bringing Sedam home. With the hit, Doster is currently tied for second in the GLVC with eight home runs, while hitting the third most RBIs at 39. Overall, the Peacocks have hit 22 home runs on the season, which is tied for the second-highest amount in the conference.
 
HIGH-SCORING SAINTS… Maryville has posted an 18-23 mark while going 10-8 in the GLVC. They are currently on a three-game winning streak and are coming off consecutive 8-1 victories against Indianapolis. Maryville has also recorded 22 homers on the year, as senior Emily Corona and sophomores Jenna Kosnof and Addison Koth have each hit five home runs. Kosnoff leads the Saints with a .330 batting average where she has recorded 37 hits, 23 runs, and a team-high nine doubles. Corona has posted a .315 average at the plate, where she has scored 40 runs which is tied for the second-most in the GLVC. She has added four triples on the season which ranks fourth overall in the conference. On the mound, freshman Cora Boyle has recorded a mark of 10-6, while allowing a 3.57 ERA. She has recorded a .284 batting average against while striking out 64 batters in 117 innings.
 
TUSSLE WITH THE TRITONS… Missouri-St. Louis has gone 12-21 on the season with a 5-13 record in GLVC action. Junior Jamie Widule has garnered team-highs of a .387 batting average, 41 hits and 24 runs. She has added six doubles, while hitting 13 RBIs with one home run. Sophomore May Pasqualini has recorded a .330 average at the plate, with 32 hits, 18 runs and 12 RBIs. Junior Simia Spahiev has hit a team-high 20 RBIs while sophomore Rylie Buchanan has posted a team-best five home runs. Junior pitcher Ashley Borowitz has put together a 6-8 record while recording a 3.73 ERA. She has allowed a .243 batting average against, while striking out 87 batters in 107 innings.  

MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will hit the road for a pair of non-conference double headers, starting with Wisconsin-Parkside on Wednesday, Apr. 16 at 12 and 2 p.m. They will follow that up by taking on Missouri Western State, Saturday, Apr. 19 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
