PITCHING PROWESS… Junior
Sara Reid has posted a 3-3 record on the mound, and she has pitched five complete games with a team leading 2.71 ERA. She has recorded 30 strikeouts on the year, including a season-high ten strikeouts over St. Cloud State at the Lewis Dome Invite. Fifth year
Delaney Vetter has pitched a 3.40 ERA and she added a save against MSU-Moorhead at the Lewis Dome Invite. She has recorded team-highs with 39 total strikeouts as well as a .246 batting average against. Vetter has struck out at least four batters over the past four matches, and she is coming off a season-high performance of eleven strikeouts against Bemidji State.
SHAFER'S STARDOM… Junior
Serah Shafer has recorded 24 hits in 15 games and she ranks second in the GLVC with an average of 1.6 hits per game. She is coming off a 3-4 performance versus Bemidji State and she added three hits early in the season against Emporia State. Shafer also leads the team with 12 runs, which includes a career-high three runs against Missouri Southern. She ranks sixth in the conference with ten stolen bases in 12 attempts and she has added three doubles, one triple and five RBIs on the year.
HIGHLY-ACCOMPLISHED HITTERS… The trio of
Addyson Alber,
Taylor Sedam and
Tristin Doster have started in all 15 games this season. Alber has posted a .255 batting average with 13 hits and two runs. The sophomore is tied for a team-high with four doubles and she has added three RBIs. Sedam has hit a .271 average at the plate and she has recorded 13 hits while matching Alber's four doubles. The junior ranks second on the team with five runs scored and she posted a double, run and RBI in the Peacock victory over MSU-Moorhead. Doster has recorded a .250 batting average with 12 hits and three runs. The senior hit a homer earlier this season against Washburn and she leads the Peacocks with two triples and nine RBIs.
GOING AT THE GREYHOUNDS… Indianapolis has begun the season with an 8-4 record and they have won seven of their last eight games. Sophomore Cara Cooper ranks second in the GLVC with a .516 average at the plate and she has recorded multiple hits over the past three matches. She has added 16 hits and 13 runs on the year, and is coming off a seven-run day in the Greyhounds double header wins over Lake Erie. Freshman Brooklyn Willis has added a .450 batting average while leading the team with 18 hits, 15 runs, 19 RBIs and two home runs. She hit a perfect 4-4 in her first game against Lake Erie, scoring four runs while hitting four RBIs. Senior Jocelyn Calvin has hit a .359 average at the plate with 14 hits, 11 runs and 13 RBIs while freshman Cheyenne Eads has recorded a .351 batting average with 13 hits, 12 runs and 12 RBIs. Eads has also struck out 54 batters in 39 innings, recording a 1.97 ERA. Senior Jayden Casebolt has gone 5-1 on the mound, pitching 31 strikeouts. She has pitched team-bests with a 1.40 ERA and a .196 batting average against, and is coming off a season-high ten strikeout game against Lake Erie.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will continue the season with three road double headers next week. Upper Iowa faces Missouri Western State on Wednesday, Mar. 12, Truman State, Saturday, Mar. 15 and Quincy during Sunday, Mar. 16. All three double headers will take place at 12 and 2 p.m.
