Peacocks Look to Extend Win Streak Against Drury & SBU

THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK SOFTBALL… Upper Iowa ventures to Missouri as they take on Drury and Southwest Baptist for consecutive double headers. UIU goes up against Drury on Saturday, Mar. 29 and Southwest Baptist on Sunday, Mar. 30 with games starting at 12 and 2 p.m. on both days.

AROUND THE GLVC… Upper Iowa has improved to 7-5 in conference play, where they are tied with Illinois Springfield and Indianapolis for fourth in the GLVC. Lewis sits atop the conference as they have posted a 9-1 record with their only loss coming against the Peacocks. McKendree ranks second in the GLVC with a 9-3 record while Drury rounds out the top three with a mark of 8-4.
 
DYNAMIC DOSTER… Tristin Doster is coming off a perfect performance in Upper Iowa's double header victories over William Jewell, where she hit 5-5 at the plate across both games. Doster hit two home runs in game one, while setting a career-record with eight RBIs. She added two runs in both games, where she ranks second on the squad with 16 runs on the year. Doster has hit seven total home runs on the season, which is the second highest of any player in the GLVC.
 
HIGH-SCORING SEDAM… Taylor Sedam also thrived in the series against WJC, where she scored five runs on the day. In game one, Sedam set a career-high with four runs on four plate appearances, increasing her total to 13 runs this season. She is hitting .278 on the year with 25 hits, two home runs and 12 RBIs.
 
COMING THROUGH IN THE CLUTCH… Serah Shafer put together a three-run performance in game one over William Jewell, while hitting a two-run walk off homer at the bottom of the seventh. Shafer has successfully scored at least one run in 11 of Upper Iowa's past 12 games, as she leads the team with 27 total runs. She has hit a team-high .385 average at the plate, while ranking ninth in the conference with 40 hits.
 
STRIKEOUT SENSATION… Sara Reid improved to 5-0 in the GLVC, after picking up a complete game victory over Rockhurst. She struck out seven batters, before following that up with eight strikeouts in six innings pitched over William Jewell. Reid has posted an 8-3 overall record with 68 strikeouts on the year, and has allowed a .318 batting average against.
 
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES…
  • Rae VanMilligan: 2-3 with a three-run homer in game one vs. Rockhurst
  • Kaitlin Foral: 1-1 with a three-run homer in game one vs. William Jewell
  • Addyson Alber: 2-4 with two runs in game two vs. William Jewell
  • Kylie Doty: 2-4 with one run in game one vs. William Jewell
PREVIEWING THE PANTHERS… Drury has gone 15-15 on the year, while recording a mark of 8-4 in the GLVC. Junior Sophia Luetticke leads the Panthers with a .398 batting average while also adding team-bests of 39 hits and 31 runs. She has hit three triples with 14 RBIs, and she leads the conference with 26 stolen bases in 27 attempts. Sophomore Landry Cochran has added a .308 average at the plate where she has scored 24 runs on 24 hits. She has hit four doubles and 13 RBIs, while posting a 4-4 statline with four runs and a homer against Maryville. On the mound, senior A.J. Agers has recorded a 2.73 ERA while allowing a .233 batting average against. She has gone 4-3 on the season, while striking out 22 batters in 48 innings.
 
BATTLING THE BEARCATS… Southwest Baptist has posted a 12-18 overall record, while going 6-6 against conference opponents. Sophomore Angie Micone ranks fourth in the conference with a .452 batting average in 84 at bats. She leads the team with 38 hits and 23 runs while adding nine RBIs on the year. Senior Audrey Rahlmann has recorded a .268 batting average with 10 runs on 22 hits. She has posted a team-high four home runs and 24 RBIs, while adding a total of five doubles. Junior pitcher Shalie Wooden has gone 4-4 on the season, with a 5.60 ERA. She has struck out 29 batters in 45 innings, while allowing a .343 batting average against.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will lead off April with consecutive home double headers. Upper Iowa faces Lincoln on Saturday, Apr. 5 and Missouri S&T on Sunday, Apr. 6 with games beginning at 12 and 2 p.m. on both days.
