THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK SOFTBALL… Upper Iowa heads south for back-to-back road double headers that will take place at 12 and 2 p.m. The Peacocks will face GLVC opponents, Truman State on Saturday, Mar. 15 and Quincy, Sunday, Mar. 16.

TAKING DOWN THE GREYHOUNDS… The Peacocks led-off the GLVC season on a high-note as they took down #17-Indianapolis 5-4 in game one on the road. They came up one run short in game two by a score of 9-8, where they were half an inning away from being the first GLVC team to sweep Indianapolis since April 22, 2018. Senior
Tristin Doster dominated the competition as she hit 3-7 on the day with three runs, five RBIs and two home runs. She hit the game-winning three RBI homer at the top of the seventh in game one and added a solo go-ahead home run at the top of the seventh inning in game two. Junior
Taylor Sedam hit 3-4 in the second match, where she hit a two-run homer in the second, and an RBI single in the fifth. Fifth year
Rae VanMilligan also hit a home run, as she launched a three RBI dinger over the left field wall in the fourth inning. Sophomore
Addyson Alber hit 2-2 with two runs scored in the second game as well.
PITCHING POWERHOUSE… Junior
Sara Reid improved to 4-3 on the year as she pitched a complete game in Upper Iowa's victory over UIndy. She struck out seven batters on the day, which included a strikeout for the final out while the Greyhounds had a runner on second base. In game two, fifth year
Delaney Vetter pitched the first four innings, where she struck out five batters, which includes three consecutive strikeouts in the second inning. Freshman
Faith Lemonds appeared on the mound for two innings, and she struck out three batters in a row at the bottom of the sixth.
BOUT WITH THE BULLDOGS… Truman State has started the season 14-13 while going 2-2 in the GLVC. Senior Kaylyn Jones has posted a 7-2 record on the mound, striking out 58 batters in 68 innings. She has recorded a 2.56 ERA and has allowed a .246 batting average against. The Bulldogs have thrived at the plate as they have three batters hitting over a .400 average. Junior Cassie Smith has hit a .449 batting average while leading the team with 40 hits, and ranking second with 23 runs. Redshirt-sophomore Emily Wood has recorded a .427 average at the plate with 35 hits and team-highs of 27 runs, 24 RBIs and four home runs. Senior Caragan Baker has posted a .413 batting average with 31 hits, nine runs and 16 RBIs.
HASSLE WITH THE HAWKS… Quincy has gone 2-16 this season with an 0-4 mark in the GLVC. Senior pitcher Kaelyn Conger has struck out 22 batters in 33 innings, while leading the team with a 5.67 ERA and a .318 batting average against. Senior Allyson Maynard has hit team-bests with a .340 batting average, 18 hits, six doubles and 11 RBIs. She has added six runs on the year and hit a home run against Indianapolis. Freshman Kinsey Biggerstaff has posted a .280 average at the plate with 14 runs, and she has scored a team-high ten runs with two triples.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will play their first games in Fayette as they have three home double headers in a row that will all be held at 12 and 2 p.m.
