THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK SOFTBALL… Upper Iowa will compete in their final tournament of the regular season at the Lewis Flyer Dome Invitational. The Peacocks will begin the three-day event Thursday, Feb. 20 as they face Wisconsin-Parkside at 6 p.m. and St. Cloud State at 8 p.m. They will have another double header Friday, Feb. 21 as UIU goes up against Roosevelt at 11 a.m. and Minnesota State-Moorhead at 1:30 p.m. The Peacocks will then close out the tournament against Bemidji State on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 9 a.m.
ALVY EARLY MEMORIAL CLASSIC RECAP… The Peacocks are coming off a solid outing in Bentonville, Ark. where they recorded a mark of 3-2. The Peacocks opened the tournament by defeating Washburn 6-4 and they would later win both games on the same day against Northwest Missouri State by a score of 4-2, and Newman in a 4-3 comeback victory.
LEAD-OFF LEGEND… Junior
Serah Shafer has thrived at the plate as she leads the Peacocks with a .425 batting average with ten runs on 17 hits. She has recorded two doubles, one triple and five RBIs while stealing six bases in eight attempts. Shafer has recorded two hits in four consecutive games and she has hit at least one RBI in the Peacocks last three matches. Shafer has scored multiple runs three times this season, highlighted by a three-run performance against Missouri Southern.
STREAK SETTER… Sophomore
Addyson Alber has recorded a .324 batting average and she ranks second on the team with 11 hits. Alber has posted at least one hit in all but one game this season, and she opened the season by hitting a double in three consecutive games. She added an RBI in three consecutive games as well and has scored two runs on the year.
HOME RUN HITTERS… The Peacocks have hit four home runs this season which have all come from different batters. Senior

Aubree Terris each hit a dinger during Upper Iowa's most recent tournament at the Alvy Early Memorial Classic. Sedam has recorded a .303 average at the plate with ten hits and she ranks second on the team with four runs. Sedam has added three doubles on the year and she put together a two-run, three-RBI performance against Washburn. Doster has posted a .273 batting average with two runs on nine hits. She has hit three doubles with one triple, and she has recorded a team-best seven RBIs.
WISCONSIN-PARKSIDE PREVIEW… The Rangers have started the season 2-0 after shutting out the Quincy Hawks in consecutive games. Junior Mia Johnson hit a perfect 3-3 in their first game with two home runs, two RBIs and four runs. She followed that up by scoring two runs in the second match while also hitting a two RBI home run. Senior Olivia Masnica and junior Ellie Curtis each recorded complete game shutouts with Masnica striking out three batters while Curtis threw four strikeouts and only allowed one hit.
ST. CLOUD STATE PREVIEW… The Huskies have posted a 7-3 record, highlighted by a six-game winning streak. Sophomore Brooke Holmes leads the team with a .571 batting average, 16 hits and ten runs. She has added three doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs. Senior Emma Eickhoff has recorded a perfect 3-0 record on the mound with 14 strikeouts and a 2.53 ERA. Junior Justyce Porter has put together a team-best 1.27 ERA and .250 batting average against, while recording four saves.
ROOSEVELT PREVIEW… The Lakers are currently 2-2 and they are coming off consecutive defeats to Lewis. Sophomore Ella Dvoracek has hit a team-high .429 batting average, six hits, four runs and one home run. Freshman Catie Luzzi has allowed a 0.81 ERA on the mound and freshman Riley Czarnecki has struck out 12 batters in ten innings pitched.
MINNESOTA STATE-MOORHEAD PREVIEW… The Dragons are off to a 5-6 start on the year, highlighted by three consecutive wins at the Bubble Invite. Senior Avery Steffen has hit a team-leading .474 batting average with 12 runs on 18 hits and five doubles. She has added two triples, six RBIs and 11 stolen bases in 14 attempts. Steffen has also recorded a 3-2 record on the mound with a 3.78 ERA. She has allowed a .256 batting average against while striking out 31 batters in 29 innings.
BEMIDJI STATE PREVIEW… The Beavers have gone 2-2 this season and are coming off a defeat to St. Cloud State. Sophomore Jackie Larsen has posted a team-best .500 batting average with seven hits and three runs, while adding one triple. Freshman Kennedy Joachim has recorded a 3.77 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 13 innings, and she has allowed a .245 batting average against.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will open the GLVC season at Indianapolis on Friday, Mar. 7 at 12 and 2 p.m. before returning to the Eischeid Softball Complex to host Lewis, Sunday, Mar. 9 at 12 and 2 p.m.
