FAYETTE, Iowa- Upper Iowa Men's Basketball was voted 11th in Tuesday's Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Preseason Poll.
 
UIU's top returner is forward Kyle Hrncir after leading the team in points (12.4), rebounds (7.5), minutes (33.4) and assists (2.8) per game. In the GLVC, Hrncir ranked second in offensive rebounds per game (2.8), recorded the most rebounds in a single game (17). He had a season-high 35 points against Missouri S&T on Feb. 8.
 
The Peacocks will be led by first-year head coach Casey Kasperbauer. He joins a team that went 21-9 last season and finished third in the GLVC. The Peacocks made the semifinals of the GLVC tournament in 2024-25.
 
Missouri S&T led the poll with 196 points and 14 first-place votes, while Lincoln (Mo.) locked in second with 174 points and one first-place vote. Missouri–St. Louis slotted into third with 161 points. Upper Iowa finished ahead of Truman State (Mo.), Quincy (Ill.), Maryville (Mo.), and Southwest Baptist (Mo.).
 
The preseason poll is selected by the league's head coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team.
 
Upper Iowa plays in an exhibition game in Cedar Falls against Northern Iowa on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. The regular season starts in Kenosha, Wisconsin, competing in the Midwest Region Crossover on Nov. 14-15 against Wisconsin-Parkside and Roosevelt.
