The Peacocks came up short in their double header with the #3-team in the nation, as the Indianapolis Greyhounds picked up a pair of wins by scores of 14-0 and 9-1.
Game One
UIndy opened the scoring with a three-run homer at the top of the first, and pushed their lead to four on an RBI groundout.
Ari Charles hit a single to first base during her first at bat, and she proceeded to steal second base.
Rae VanMilligan added a single up the middle to put runners on first and third for UIU, but a fielder's choice at home prevented the Peacocks from scoring.
Serah Shafer later added a single to shortstop in the bottom of the third, recording the Peacocks third hit of the game.
The Greyhounds put together a seven-run inning at the top of the fifth, hitting two home runs and two doubles. This would push their lead to 14-0, as Upper Iowa was unable to cut back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth.
Delaney Vetter allowed five hits and struck out six batters in three innings of action.
Game Two
The Peacocks played a very evenly matched first half of game two, as they trailed only 1-0 after three innings. Indianapolis was able to pull away from UIU in the top of the fourth, as they scored eight runs, highlighted by two doubles and consecutive home runs.
VanMilligan hit a double off the center field wall to start the fourth inning, before
Leah Grimm subbed in to pinch run.
Laila Pelds added a single out to center, which advanced Grimm to third as she was safe on the headfirst slide into the base.
Kylie Doty hit a single out to left field, picking up an RBI as Grimm scored on the play.
Taylor Sedam followed this up by hitting a single out to left field as well. With the bases loaded, the Greyhounds were able to force out number three on a fly out, which iced the game by a score of 9-1.
