THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK SOFTBALL… Upper Iowa looks to add to their win streak with a pair of road double headers against UMSL and McKendree. The Peacocks face Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday, Apr. 13 and McKendree the following day with both matchups set to begin at 12 and 2 p.m.

HOMESTAND HEROES… The Peacocks are coming off a 4-2 record at the Eischeid Softball Complex where they completed series sweeps against William Jewell and Quincy.
Laila Pelds hit 4-4 with two runs in two different games, while also hitting three home runs. Pelds has hit five home runs on the season and has added 31 RBIs which is the fourth highest in the GLVC.
Ari Charles broke a 23-year-old Peacock record with her eighth triple on the season against Rockhurst and she recorded her ninth triple against Quincy which leads the GLVC. She leads the team with a .360 batting average, 50 hits and 24 runs.
Kylie Doty scored at least one run in five of the Peacocks six home games, which included a two-run performance against WJC and Quincy. Doty also recorded three RBIs and hit her second home run of the season against Rockhurst.
PITCHING POWERHOUSE… Delaney Vetter posted a record of 2-1 at home, pitching two complete games. She struck out ten batters against William Jewell, recording double digit strikeouts for the fourth time this season. Vetter pitched 24 strikeouts over the three-game span, accumulating an ERA of 2.33.
Abby Buckman went 1-1 on the mound, pitching a complete game with four strikeouts and only one run allowed in a victory over William Jewell. She also came in at the end of both games against Quincy, where she recorded back-to-back saves.

TEST WITH THE TRITONS… Missouri-St. Louis has gone 18-22 overall with a 5-9 conference record. They were on a six-game losing streak which just came to an end as they defeated Maryville 8-5. Fifth year Irene Travis leads the Tritons with a .358 batting average, 49 hits, 11 doubles and 24 runs. She has scored three runs in a game twice on the year and is coming off a two run, two RBI performance at Maryville. Fifth year power hitter McKenzie Lamos has posted a .326 batting average with a team-high six home runs. She has recorded 27 RBIs which includes a season-high five RBIs with three runs against William Jewell. On the mound, sophomore Ashley Borowitz has struck out 108 batters in 117 innings of action. She has recorded a 2.69 ERA and a .237 batting average against.
MIGHTY MCKENDREE… The Bearcats have posted a record of 24-17 with a 7-7 GLVC mark. They have won 50% of their games on the road, but sit at 10-4 when playing on their home field. Sophomore Lauren Harris leads the GLVC by a long shot with a .523 batting average and her 68 hits are 13 more than any other player. Harris is tied for most home runs in the conference with 13 and she ranks in the top five with 13 doubles, 36 runs and 42 RBIs. She has recorded at least one hit in 38 out of 41 games this season and is coming off a 3-3 performance against William Jewell. Senior Ellie Quaethem has posted a record of 14-7 on the mound and she leads the GLVC with 146 strikeouts in 138 innings. Quaethem has allowed an ERA of 1.81 and a .208 batting average against.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will be back in Fayette for their final two home games of the regular season. UIU goes up against Indianapolis on Friday, Apr. 19 at 12 and 2 p.m. and their Senior Day will be held at the same time against Lewis on Sunday, Apr. 21.
