Box Score 2 The Peacocks split the series on Day Three of the Spring Games, achieving a 3-2 victory over Glenville State before West Virginia Wesleyan took game two by a score of 7-2.
Game One vs. Glenville State Pioneers
The Pioneers singled on a pop fly to center to start the game and they scored their first run of the day on a grounder up the middle. They had a great opportunity to jump to a two-run lead with a runner on third, but
Delaney Vetter forced a ground out to end the top of the first. Vetter pitched two strikeouts in the second inning and added another atop the third.
Hannah Bridgewater was walked in the bottom of the third, and she advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by
Elliott Pomeroy. With two outs,
Ari Charles launched a fly ball out to right field, recording a triple on the play while bringing Bridgewater home to tie the game at 1-1.

After forcing two quick ground outs, the Peacocks found themselves in a dangerous situation as Glenville State loaded the bases in the fourth. Vetter was able to pitch her fourth strikeout to end the inning and she added consecutive strikeouts to close out the fifth before striking out all three batters she faced in the sixth inning. Vetter continued to excel on the mound as she recorded back-to-back strikeouts to start the seventh inning, which extended her streak of striking out seven batters in a row.

With the game still tied at one run apiece, the Peacocks played in extra innings for the first time on the year. Glenville State got on base to start the top of the ninth, and they took a 2-1 lead on an RBI single to shortstop. With Upper Iowa needing a run,
Serah Shafer got on base and she was able to advance to third on a
Rae VanMilligan grounder.
Laila Pelds tied the game on a line drive double to center field as Shafer scored on the play.
Mikayla Brown pinch ran for the Peacocks and she advanced to third on a grounder by
Taylor Sedam. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth,
Elyse Rios hit the game winning pop fly to second base, which brought Brown home to give the Peacocks a 3-2 victory!

Delaney Vetter pitched all nine innings for Upper Iowa, where she matched her career-high by throwing 14 strikeouts.
Game Two vs. West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats
VanMilligan recorded the Peacocks first hit of game two on a single to left field and Charles and Shafer each hit singles to the outfield at the top of the third. West Virginia Wesleyan began the bottom of the third inning with consecutive singles, with both runners advancing to second and third. The Bobcats scored the first two runs of the game on singles to left field and a two RBI double down the left side would give them a 4-0 lead.

With two outs at the top of the fifth, Charles hit a dinger over the center field wall, which gives her two home runs on the year. VanMilligan singled to center field to start the sixth inning and Pelds and Sedam each picked up hits to load the bases. With the bases loaded,
Reagan Church hit a sacrifice fly out to center field which brought Pelds home. The Bobcats added two more runs at the bottom of the seventh, to close out the game by a score of 7-2.

Charles hit 3-4 in the game and Shafer, VanMilligan and Sedam each added two hits.
