GLVC RECAP… The Peacocks have opened conference play with a 1-3 record and are coming off a 5-3 victory in game one against Illinois Springfield.
Ari Charles recorded her GLVC leading seventh triple of the season over UIS and she leads all Peacocks hitters with a .382 batting average. Charles has posted 39 hits which is the fifth highest in the GLVC and she has added seven stolen bases.
Kylie Doty has been very productive at the plate since the start of GLVC action, as she recorded an RBI double against Truman State and added an RBI triple in the Peacocks win over Illinois Springfield. Doty has hit for a .321 average and has added three doubles.
Reagan Church hit her team-leading third home run of the season in the conference opener and added two RBIs on the day. She has recorded a .300 batting average with eight triples this season.
Serah Shafer has recorded two hits in three of UIU's four conference games while adding two runs and two RBIs. She has stolen 14 bases in 16 attempts on the year, which is the fifth most in the GLVC.
Laila Pelds has also gotten at least one hit in every conference game this season, including a two-hit performance in game one vs. Truman State and game two vs. UIS. Pelds has hit two homers this season and she ranks sixth in the conference with 23 RBIs.
PEACOCKS SEASON LEADERS…
PREVIEW OF THE PANTHERS… Drury has posted a 15-18 record while going 3-5 in conference play. The Panthers are currently on a three-game win streak, which was highlighted by an 18-5 victory over Maryville in five innings. Senior Bailee Nixon has gone 7-3 on the mound while allowed a 2.61 ERA. She has struck out 23 batters while allowing a .279 batting average against. Sophomore Sophia Luetticke has hit for a .380 batting average with a team-high 35 hits. She has scored 20 runs on the year and has added 11 RBIs. Senior Rylee Kolb has recorded a .327 average at the plate and has scored a team-high 22 runs on 32 hits. She has successfully stolen nine bases and hit a home run against Minnesota Duluth.
BOUT WITH THE BEARCATS… Southwest Baptist has gone 11-21 overall with an 0-8 conference record. Sophomore Emma Kreisel has posted a 5-7 record on the mound with a 3.28 ERA. She leads the team with 63 strikeouts and has allowed a .275 batting average against. Junior Margo Frossard has dominated at the plate as she leads SBU in nearly every statistical category. She has recorded team-highs with a .367 batting average, 33 hits, 25 runs, ten doubles, 21 RBIs, six home runs and 16 stolen bases. Frossard hit two home runs over Stephens College and has scored three runs with three RBIs twice this season. Senior Kate McConville has hit for a .340 average with two triples on the year.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will host their first games of the season next weekend, as they will be competing in three double headers. UIU takes on William Jewell on Saturday, Apr. 6, Rockhurst on Sunday, Apr. 7 and Quincy on Tuesday, Apr. 9. All three matchups will be held at 12 and 2 p.m.
