Mar. 15, 2024 - Upper Iowa University graduate senior Jake Hilmer (Walker, Iowa / North Linn HS) has been selected as the 2023-24 D2CCA Midwest Region Player of the Year in voting conducted by the region's sports information directors.
 
 A five-time all-conference selection for the Peacocks, Hilmer has led his team to 92 wins in his five-year career. This season, Hilmer averaged 24.3 points per game in the regular season, third-best in Division II. He also averaged 4.3 assists per game which ranked tenth in the region while leading the Midwest in points per game and total points, field goal attempts, free throw makes and attempts, free throw percentage, and ranking fifth in steals. Hilmer has scored 2,496 points in his career and has 614 assists, both of which are tops all-time at Upper Iowa. 
 
Other GLVC members of the first team include Milos Vicentic (McKendree) and Jesse Bingham (Indianapolis), while Kendrick Tchoua (Indianapolis) was named to the second team. 
 
This season, UIU has a record of 21-9 and will be playing in the Midwest Regional where they have a date with #2 seed Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CST in Indianapolis, Ind.
