Box Score 2 Upper Iowa has wrapped up the Lewis Flyer Dome Invitational with a 2-4 record as they defeated MSU-Moorhead 6-4, before dropping to Bemidji State 7-3.
Game One vs. Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons
The Peacocks began the top of the first inning by forcing a double play, on a grounder to third base. Senior
Ari Charles singled on a grounder to the shortstop and sophomore
Serah Shafer reached first on an error. Senior
Rae VanMilligan would bring both players home on a line drive to right field which gave the Peacocks an early lead. Sophomore
Taylor Sedam was able to make it a 3-0 game, as her line drive to center field brought VanMilligan home.

Kylie Doty each hit a single to right field to start the bottom of the third inning. Both players were able to advance a base on a wild pitch which junior
Reagan Church capitalized on as she hit a RBI single to center field. Sophomore
Elyse Rios added an RBI grounder to second, and Doty crossed home plate to score UIU's fifth run of the game.
The Dragons loaded the bases on a pair of singles and a walk, and were able to add two runs on ground outs to second base. With runners on second and third, the Peacocks forced a ground out to maintain their 5-2 lead. Shafer reached first on a pop fly to center at the bottom of the fourth and she proceeded to steal second. She scored UIU's sixth run of the game on an RBI single to right field by senior
Laila Pelds.
Junior
Rylee McGonigle forced three quick outs in both the fifth and sixth inning, pitching two strikeouts. With runners in scoring position atop the seventh, the Dragons hit a double to left field, which brought two runners home to make it a 6-4 game. With a runner in scoring position, McGonigle struck out the final batter she faced, finishing with four strikeouts in the game and a victory on the mound.
Game Two vs. Bemidji State Beavers
Charles once again hit a single to start game two, and she advanced to third on a line drive hit by VanMilligan. Pelds added a double on a fly ball to left field which resulted in Charles scoring the first run of the game.
The Beavers singled to start the bottom of the first, and a pair of fielder's choices led to them matching the score at 1-1. They took a 2-1 lead at the bottom of the fourth inning, and proceeded to load the bases with zero outs. A single to center field gave would give them their second of five runs they scored in the inning. The Peacocks were able to respond atop the third inning as Rios and Shafer each got on base. VanMilligan hit a double on a line drive to center field, which brought both players home, and gave the Peacocks three runs in the game. Bemidji State was able to add the final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth, which sealed a 7-3 win.
The Peacocks will travel down to Florida to participate in the Spring Games. UIU will be playing in 12 games over the course of the eight-day event which is set to begin at the start of March.
