Upper Iowa men's wrestling hosted Sioux Falls and Newman in Fayette for the team's first duals of the season. The Peacocks versed the Cougars first and downed them 32-12 before nearly grabbing a shutout over the Jets as they powered through to a 44-3 victory. UIU improved to 2-0 on the season with its first GLVC dual on deck for Friday, Dec. 6 against Quincy at 6 p.m.

Against Sioux Falls, the Peacocks led 6-3 after the first two bouts. In the first action of the day, Heaston fell in a narrow 5-4 decision, but Schmit followed it up with a win by forfeit. Wehner was edged out in his first dual of the evening after putting up a tough battle. He notched a last-second escape to force sudden victory, but a takedown from the Cougars as time expired gave them the three points and tied the match 6-6.
Doty breezed to a tech fall victory over his opponent to put the Peacocks up 11-6. Schams was up next and grabbed a win by major decision.
Collin Altensey was trumped by fall, but Upper Iowa rattled off the next four bouts to glide to its first win of the season. Losee posted a come-back win in a 12-8 decision. After being down 8-4, he recorded a takedown to trail 8-7. He chose down in the next round, and pulled off an escape followed by takedown, combined with a ride time point.
Bye earned six team points by forfeit, Freeman put down his opponent by tech fall and managed to score 8 points in the first 20 seconds of the match. Ours concluded the dual with a win in an 8-3 decision. 6

The Peacocks rattled off wins in the first five bouts against the Jets. Heaston and Schmit each notched wins by decision to start off with the 6-0 advantage. Wehner won by tech fall in a chippy match, followed by a fall by Doty (4:20). Schams' major decision victory put the Peacocks ahead 21-0 before Newman won its only bout at 165 by decision.
Griffin Luke picked up the team's second fall of the match in 2:10 after starting the bout ahead 7-0. Bye defeated his opponent by tech fall (18-3) in 6:20. Freeman and Ours ended the competition on a high note as they each trumped their opponents by fall. Ours started his bout down 7-0 before coming back with a takedown followed by a pin.
