LAST WEEK IN REVIEW
Upper Iowa grabbed its fourth conference win of the season in a 31-3 triumph over Lincoln last Saturday afternoon after getting off to a hot start and recording 21 points in the opening quarter. They rolled off another touchdown in the third, while Lincoln scored their only three points of the game in that same quarter on a 30-yard field goal.
Nathan Behne notched a 28-yard field goal in the fourth to cap off the Peacock scoring and seal the large margin of victory.Â
Â
THE FIGHT FOR FIRST PLACE
Indianapolis leads the league right now in first place with a 4-0 record, but Upper Iowa will look to overtake the top spot after this weekend, currently sitting at 4-1 in the GLVC. Truman State, who defeated Upper Iowa in a close 26-23 battle, has only recorded one loss this season and holds a 3-1 mark in the conference, placing them third in the standings. Their only surrender was to Indianapolis in a 41-34 decision.
Â
YOU JUST GOT R-E-J-E-C-T-E-D
Eddy Latanauskas blocked his fifth kick of the season against Lincoln last Saturday, placing him first on the nation's leaderboard. He not only leads this category in Division II, but across each of the divisions. CJ Childs (VTSU Castleton, Division III) has also tallied five blocked kicks on the season. Besides Latanauskas and Childs, no one in any division has rejected even four blocked kicks. There is a seven-way tie for second in Division II with three blocked kicks, which includes Indianapolis' Brandon Smith. The Peacocks are tied for first in Division II in blocked kicks as a unit with seven.Â
