Longman promoted to offensive coordinator for Upper Iowa Football

Peacock assistant coach gets promotion after historic season

FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa football coach Jason Hoskins has announced that Max Longman has been promoted to the offensive coordinator role with the team. Longman has coached the offensive line and tight ends for the Peacocks during the last two seasons after joining the team in the summer of 2024.

"I'm thrilled to announce that Max Longman will be our next offensive coordinator here at Upper Iowa," Hoskins said. "Coach Longman is a rising star in the profession. I'm impressed with his work ethic and his knowledge of the game. He's done a great job with our offensive line, and I'm looking forward to having that same impact for the rest of the offense. This was an easy choice for me, and I was happy to have the best candidate on staff."

Under Longman's leadership this past season, the UIU offensive line only allowed 12 sacks, which led the GLVC and ranked 20th in the nation. The Peacocks ranked 35th nationally in rushing offense and 43rd nationally in passing offense. He will continue to coach the offensive line and tight ends for the Peacocks in his offensive coordinator role.

Longman coached two All-Americans this past season. Tight end Eddie Burgess earned AFCA Second Team All-America and CSC Second Team Academic All-America®, while right guard Connor Andresen was named a CSC Second Team Academic All-American®. Four out of five UIU offensive linemen earned All-GLVC accolades, highlighted by left tackle Klay Seehase earning First Team All-GLVC.

"It means a lot being able to step into this role," Longman said. "I've had a lot of fun being able to coach the offensive line and tight end room here the last two years, and really look forward to the future of this program. I want to thank our players, Coach Hoskins, the athletic administration and the entire Fayette community for their continued support. I can't wait to get to work with our great coaching staff to continue to build a tough, physical offense."

Longman graduated from the University of Indiana in 2023, appearing in four games on the offensive line. Before joining the Hoosiers, he spent four seasons at the University of Massachusetts, serving as a team captain and appearing in 31 games with 25 starts.

Heath Parling, who served as the offensive coordinator for the last four seasons, took the offensive coordinator position at Central Washington. The Peacocks will continue to search for an assistant coach for quarterbacks and running backs.
