The Upper Iowa men's bowling team made the friendly confines of Cadillac XBC in Waterloo, Iowa their home this weekend as they competed in the Cedar Valley Open.

Nine varsity teams from the state of Iowa participated in the event. The tournament's format consisted of five traditional team games on Saturday followed by four sets of team Baker games on Sunday.

The Peacocks finished in fourth place with a total of 7,605 pins for the weekend. They knocked over 4,507 during the traditional games and 3,098 pins during the Baker games. The fourth-place finish represents the program's best tournament result since taking third at the Brew City Classic on February 14, 2021.

On Saturday, the Peacocks were led by
Jonah Martin, who finished with a total of 931 pins in five games. He was followed by
Eric Roberts with a score of 859 pins in five games and
Tyler Renner, who finished with a total of 798 pins in four games thanks to a high game of 224.

On Sunday, UIU averaged nearly 194 pins per Baker game and 774.5 pins per Baker set including a high total of 833 in set two.

"The men showed a lot of strength and perseverance as a team this weekend," said Assistant Coach
Steve Landry. "We started ok, but the team's goal was always to make the top four. They utilized great communication and shot making in order to hit that goal come the final day of the tournament."

Up next, the Peacocks will travel to Quincy, Illinois to compete in the Hawk Invite hosted by Quincy University. The event is scheduled to begin this Saturday on February 18.
