Men's Bowling Wrap Up Vegas Trip at Collegiate Shoot-Out

The Upper Iowa men's bowling team competed for the final time in 2022 this week at the Collegiate Shoot-Out.

The Upper Iowa men's bowling team competed for the final time in 2022 this week at the Collegiate Shoot-Out. The event was held at the South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Forty-nine teams from across the country participated across two days. The tournament's format consisted of six traditional team games on Tuesday followed by 16 team Baker games on Wednesday. The top four teams would move on to compete in the semifinal round.

The Peacocks finished in 36th place, knocking over a total of 8,206 pins across the two days. As a team, they knocked over 5,367 pins in the individual games and 2,839 pins during the team Baker games.

On Tuesday, Kyle Moeller continued his fine form from the beginning of the week as he led UIU with a total of 1,134 pins in six games, including a high game of 234. He was followed by Eric Roberts, who finished with a score of 931 pins in five games, and Jonah Martin, who knocked over 887 pins in five games.

Upper Iowa would go on to average nearly 710 pins per Baker set on Wednesday, including a high set of 773, to conclude tournament play.

"The Collegiate Shoot-Out had a demanding pattern where execution was crucial on each shot," said Head Coach Nichole DePaul. "While it was not the way we wanted to bowl in Vegas, the men worked together to keep a positive attitude till the last ball was thrown. On behalf of our program, I want to thank everyone for their support and donations that help create opportunities like this for our student-athletes. We have gained valuable experience and will continue to work hard over break to prepare for our next event."

Up next, the Peacocks will return to the lanes in 2023 when they compete at the Kegel/ISPBA Midwest Classic in Addison, Illinois beginning on January 14.
