The Upper Iowa men's bowling team competed for the first time in 2023 this past weekend at the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic. The team's final Tier I event took place at Stardust Bowl in Addison, Illinois.

Seventy-one teams participated across two divisions during the competition. The tournament's format consisted of five traditional team games on Saturday followed by five sets of team Baker games on Sunday.

UIU finished in 59th place overall and 22nd in the B division, knocking over an overall total of 8,140 pins across the two days. As a team, they knocked over 4,499 pins in the individual games and 3,641 pins during the Baker games.

Individually,
Kyle Moeller paced the Peacocks for the third straight event, finishing with a total of 997 pins in five games. He was followed by
Cody Lawrence, who knocked over 862 pins in five games, and
Eric Roberts, who finished with a total of 736 pins in four games and a high game of 232 to top the team.

On Sunday, UIU averaged roughly 728 pins per Baker set with a high total of 779 in set two.

"It was an up and down weekend for the team in their return to competition," said Head Coach
Nichole DePaul. "We have areas to work on, but we're optimistic that we can rise to the occasion over the next few events in order to get our season back on track."

Up next, the Peacocks will prepare for their next competition in a couple weeks at the Kohawk Invitational. The event will be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa starting on February 4.
