Upper Iowa, ranked No. 10 in the latest NWCA Division II Top 25, put together a great afternoon on the mat in Fayette for the Mike Olson Alumni Dual shutting out the No. 22 Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University by a count of 41-0. The Peacocks won all 10 bouts including a win by fall, a tech fall, six decisions and two forfeits. The win improved UIU's record to 8-2 overall and 4-0 in the Northern Sun Conference, while SMSU drops to 1-4 overall and 1-4 in the NSIC.

Over 40 Peacock wrestling alums gathered to pay tribute to the legendary UIU Head Coach Mike Olson and they were treated to a 10-win day for the home team.

After a forfeit at 125 pounds,
Kaden Anderlik posted a 10-5 win at 133 pounds thanks to a first-period takedown, a second-period reversal and a late takedown to hold off Hunter Pfantz. The second forfeit of the day came at 141 pounds and gave the Peacocks a 15-0 lead on the scoreboard.

Ethen Doty made it 20-0 with a dominant 16-0 technical fall (4:50) fueled by a takedown, three four-point nearfalls and a final two-point nearfall to end the bout early.

Eric Faught rode the momentum of Saturday's big win and scored three takedowns in the 157-pound match to notch a 7-3 decision and add three more team points to UIU's tally.

Chase Luensman took control of the 165-pound match early and held a 5-1 lead in the second period when he hit on a big takedown and seconds later the whistle sounded with his win by fall (3:32).

Leading 29-0, the Peacocks sent
Scott Kellenberger into the circle at 174 pounds. Kellenberger registered three takedowns including one in the final period to come away with an 8-5 win over Elijah Sterner.

Colter Bye scored the only offensive points in his 6-2 victory at 184 pounds thanks to a pair of takedowns.

UIU pushed
Cameron Lopez up a weight class into the 197-pound match against Carter Marx, and Lopez delivered a big 3-2 win. The Monee, Ill. product got an escape in the second period and then scored the only takedown of the bout in the third period.

No. 11 Jacob Dykes took on UIU's
Jordan Baumler in the heavyweight match, which remained tied a 1-1 until late in the final frame. Baumler fired off two takedowns in the final minute to pull away with a 5-2 decision and secure the shutout.

Heath Grimm, now in his twenty-third season at the helm of the UIU program, the Peacocks have posted 14 shutouts in ten different seasons. Upper Iowa defeated Knox College 54-0 and Illinois College 57-0 in Grimm's first year at the helm. The Peacocks defeated UNC Pembroke 47-0 at the National Duals in 2006, Northern State University 45-0 in an NSIC dual in 2007, a perfect 60-0 shutout of Wagner in 2009 at the Sprawl and Brawl Duals and a 41-0 NSIC dual win over MSU Moorhead in 2010. During the 2012-13 season, the Peacocks defeated Waldorf College, 53-0, and in 2013-14, UIU claimed three shutouts including wins over Hannibal-LaGrange, 58-0, Calumet College, 57-0, and Northern State, 47-0. Most recently, the Peacocks claimed a 45-0 victory over the University of Mary in January 2015 and a 56-0 win over Truman State University in November 2018. Earlier this season, UIU defeated Waldorf University 57-0 in Fayette in a non-conference dual.

Upper Iowa will head to North Dakota next weekend, Jan. 27-28 for a pair of Northern Sun Conference duals. The Peacocks match up with Minot State University on Friday in Minot and the University of Mary on Saturday in Bismarck.
