The Peacock men's basketball team jumped up a spot to No. 19 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches NCAA Division II Top 25 with 118 points and No. 21 with 91 points in the D2SIDA Division II Media Poll after sweeping a pair of home games against Minot State University (77-62) and the University of Mary (82-72) to finish their run through the Northern Sun's North Division with a 7-1 record. In the last edition of each poll, Upper Iowa was ranked No. 20 in the NABC poll and No. 22 in the D2SIDA poll.

Three straight wins have pushed Upper Iowa's record to 19-3 overall and 13-3 in the Northern Sun Conference. Currently UIU has the most conference wins of any team in the NSIC, but stands in second place in the NSIC South Division and third in the overall standings due to win percentage.
 
The ranking this week marks the eighth time that UIU has been in the top 25 for the NABC poll and sixth time in the D2SIDA poll.
 
Two other NSIC schools join Upper Iowa in the national rankings this week. The Bulldogs of the University of Minnesota Duluth comes in at No. 7 in the NABC poll and No. 8 in the D2SIDA poll, while the Vikings of Augustana University are ranked No. 11 in the NABC rankings and No. 14 in the D2SIDA rankings. The Peacocks defeated the Bulldogs (95-84) and Vikings (84-65) at home earlier this season, as well as Truman State University (103-77), who was ranked No. 2 at the time.
 
D2SIDA also releases a Division II Media Top 25 Poll and regional polls. UIU is ranked fifth in the Central Region holding steady from last week.
 
This weekend, Upper Iowa is on the road at Wayne State College on Friday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and at No. 11 Augustana on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
