The Upper Iowa men's bowling team competed in their second Tier I event of the season this weekend at the National Team Match Games. The event was hosted by McKendree University and took place at St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
 
Twenty-three varsity teams participated in this weekend's competition. The tournament's format consisted of six traditional team games on Saturday followed by five sets of team Baker games on Sunday.
 
The Peacocks finished in 21st place, knocking over a total of 8,973 pins across the two days. As a team, they knocked over 5,332 pins in the individual games and 3,641 pins during the Baker games.
 
Individually, UIU were led this time by Demitri Ferneau, who finished with a total of 914 pins in five games. He was closely followed by Antonio Garrido with a score of 899 pins in five games, and Spencer James, who recorded a high game of 246 on his way to a total of 766 pins in four games.
 
On Sunday, Upper Iowa averaged roughly 728 pins per Baker set with a high score of 762 during set three.
 
"As a team, our chemistry has been fantastic on and off the lines. This weekend, we left a lot of pins out there in missed spares and opportunities. We have four weeks to prepare for our next pair of Tier I events, and we are focused on getting the team ready to shoot for a title," said Head Coach Nichole DePaul.
 
Up next, the Peacocks are set to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to take part in two events during the holiday break. UIU will be in action at the Glenn Carson Las Vegas Invitational from December 18-19 before competing at the Collegiate Shoot-Out from December 20-21. Both events will take place at South Point Bowling Plaza.
