The Upper Iowa men's bowling team returned to the lanes this weekend to compete in the Midwest Collegiate Championship. It was the team's first USBC Tier I event of the season, and it took place at Bowlero in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

Teams from 49 different schools participated in this weekend's competition. The tournament's format consisted of six traditional team games on Saturday followed by four sets of team Baker games on Sunday.

The Peacocks finished in 26th place having knocked over a total of 8,848 pins. As a team, they knocked over 5,672 pins in the individual games and 3,176 pins during the Baker games.

Individually,
Jonah Martin led UIU on Saturday with a total of 1,212 pins in six games. He was followed by
Spencer James with a total of 886 pins in five games and
Eric Roberts with a total of 824 pins in four games, which included the best high game on the team at 245.

Curtis Payne,
Matthew Moore, and Demitri Ferneau also contributed to the team's score.

On Sunday, UIU averaged 794 pins per Baker set with a high total of 884 in set three. The team narrowly missed throwing a perfect 300 in game three of set one by one frame.

"The energy and determination of the men's team was unparalleled this weekend," said Head Coach
Nichole DePaul. "They worked and communicated together to make a massive move in the overall standings from Saturday to Sunday. It was another fantastic performance by the team to start the season."

Up next, the Peacocks will return to Iowa to compete in the Five Seasons Classic, hosted by Mount Mercy University, beginning on October 29.
