The Upper Iowa men's bowling team put together a strong showing this weekend at the Clarke Invite. Â The event was hosted by Clarke University and took place at Cherry Lanes in Dubuque, Iowa.

Ten varsity teams participated in this weekend's competition. The tournament's format consisted of five traditional team games on Saturday followed by four sets of team Baker games on Sunday.

The Peacocks finished in seventh place having knocked over a total of 7,623 pins, 1 pin behind sixth place Hawkeye Community College. As a team, they knocked over 4,588 pins in the individual games and 3,035 pins during the Baker games.

Individually,
Antonio Garrido was the one who stepped up to lead UIU with a total of 917 pins in five games. He was followed by
Devin Lentz with a total of 890 pins in five games and
Jonah Martin with a total of 771 in four games.

On Sunday, UIU averaged nearly 759 pins per Baker set with a high total of 837 in set three.

"Our team chemistry was superb this weekend as they communicated and worked together well on both days," Â said Head Coach
Nichole DePaul. "We made a push to get into the top four and made it close in the end. Overall, it was an awesome event for us."

The Peacocks return to action next weekend at the Kohawk Invite, hosted by Coe College, beginning on February 5Â in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
