Upper Iowa's women's indoor track and field team broke three program records at their season-opening event on Saturday. The Peacocks scored 36 points to claim sixth place at the Frigid Bee Invite hosted by St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.

Maddie Stevens broke the school record in the 200m dash and won the event to claim 10 points for the Peacocks thanks to a time of 26.22 seconds.

Nailea Espinoza broke the UIU record in the 60m dash with a time of 7.96 seconds to place second and score eight points for the team. Galilea, Nailea's twin sister, placed sixth in the 200m dash in a time of 27.62 seconds.

Genevieve Chenoweth set the third Peacock school record in the pole vault. Chenoweth recorded a high mark of 2.60 meters to finish sixth.

The foursome of LaShae Brewton, Stevens,
Nailea Espinoza and
Zakaria Fuller ran the 4x400m relay in a time of 4:16.40. The time gave Upper Iowa eight points with a second-place finish.

Fuller was the final Peacock to score points on the day. The sophomore placed fifth in the 400m race in a time of 1:02.94.
The Peacocks will return to competition in 2022 with six events prior to the NSIC Indoor Championships in late February.
