This Week in Peacock Wrestling… The No. 20 Upper Iowa Peacock wrestling squad is on the road for the first time this season. UIU is in Moorhead, Minnesota for a Northern Sun Conference dual against the No. 25 Dragons of Minnesota State University Moorhead on Thursday, Jan. 14. The dual was originally scheduled for a 7 p.m. start, but due to the number of extra matches, the competition will now begin at 6 p.m. Both the Peacocks and Dragons enter the dual with a 0-1 record after slim defeats last Thursday.

Last Week's Reviews… The Dragons held a 16-6 lead after six matches in last Thursday's dual with the Mustangs, but Southwest Minnesota State University rallied with four straight wins to earn an 18-16 win in the teams' NSIC opener. The No. 20 Peacocks hosted the Wolves of Northern State University and each team scored five victories in the dual, but the Wolves took advantage of three bonus-points earned during a fall at 149 pounds and held on to edge their hosts 18-15.

Hail to the Victors… Kaden Anderlik gave the Peacocks a great start last Thursday with a 7-1 win in the 125-pound bout after notching a pair of takedowns and a ride time point. All-AmericanÂ
Chase Luensman took care of business at 157 pounds posting a 6-2 win fueled by a pair of takedowns and a ride time point.
Myron Crawford scored a 9-4 win at 174 while posting four takedowns and a ride time point.
Dalton Hahn toed the line at 184 pounds against NSU's Marcus Placide, ranked No. 12, grabbed a quick takedown and two nearfall points, and added a second-period takedown on the way to an 8-2 win. Redshirt freshmanÂ
Zach Ryg entered the circle at 197 pounds and recorded an 8-3 win that tied the team score at 15-15 with one match to go. Ryg registered a takedown in each of the three periods and added a final ride time point. UIU also scored six wins in the eight extra matches led by falls from
Chance Throndson(149) and
Dalton Nelson (184). Other winners by decision included

Scouting the Dragons… JuniorÂ
Cole Jones, an All-American in 2018-19 at 125, missed the 2019-20 season recovering from an injury but looked strong in his first competition in almost two years. He recorded an 8-0 major decision at 125. JuniorÂ
Braydon Ortloff was a national qualifier at 165 for MSU Moorhead last winter and recorded the only pin of the dual on Thursday. Junior Mason Schulz (141) and senior Tell Ward (157) scored a pair of decisions to account for the remaining two victories last week.
