Getting to know UIU Softball’s Kaylee Frenette

In today's virtual interview, Pete the Peacock gets to know UIU softball infielder Kaylee Frenette. Kaylee is a sophomore from Chippewa Falls, Wis. who came to Fayette two years ago from Chippewa Falls High School. She is majoring in biology.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of the spring season, the Upper Iowa Athletics Department is spending the next few months spotlighting many of our Peacock student-athletes whose spring seasons came to a premature end.
 
In today's virtual interview, Pete the Peacock gets to know UIU softball infielder Kaylee Frenette. Kaylee is a sophomore from Chippewa Falls, Wis. who came to Fayette two years ago from Chippewa Falls High School. She is majoring in biology.
 
PETE: How would you describe yourself in three words?          
KAYLEE: Committed, energetic, and determined

PETE: What made you want to be a collegiate student-athlete?        
KAYLEE: The love I have for the game of softball.

PETE: What have you learned about what it takes to be a student-athlete?          
KAYLEE: Being a student-athlete is a lot of work, but it has taught me to persevere through the hard times.

PETE: What advice would you give to your 14-year old self?   
KAYLEE: Start lifting now! Your future self will thank you.

PETE: What is something most people don't know about you?
KAYLEE: I played hockey for 12 years and got to go to nationals twice with Team Wisconsin.

PETE: What is your favorite thing about your hometown?       
KAYLEE: All my family is there!! And Culver's!!!!

PETE: How do you want to be remembered?        
KAYLEE: As a person that was reliable and trustworthy as well as a caring and thoughtful.

PETE: What's the best thing that has happened to you in the last week?   
KAYLEE: I got to go on a rollerblading trip with my siblings.

PETE: What are the top three things on your bucket list?         
KAYLEE: Skydiving, scuba diving, and visiting an elephant sanctuary

PETE: What is your dream job if money wasn't a factor? Why?          
KAYLEE: Marine biologist because I have always wanted to go down south and work with the ocean and everything within it.

PETE: Who are three people (dead or alive) you'd love to have dinner with? Why?
KAYLEE: 1. My grandma because I miss talking to her and would like to catch her up on everything going on in my life now. 2. My second person would be Herb Brooks because it would be very neat to talk with him about winning the Olympics and how he did it. 3. My third person would be my grandma again because one dinner wouldn't be enough!

PETE: What is your most memorable sports moment?  
KAYLEE: Making it to state for high school softball my freshman and senior years.

PETE: What fictional character (movie, TV show, book, cartoon, etc.) would you want to be for a day? Why?     
KAYLEE: Pam Breesly from The Office because I would be able to watch Jim play pranks on Dwight.

PETE: What is your favorite home cooked meal? 
KAYLEE: Mom's Tator Tot Hotdish

PETE: Do you believe in aliens or ghosts? If yes, why?   
KAYLEE: YES!! Lee 302 had a ghost named Gertrude and she haunted me and my roommates. Lights would randomly shut off, desk chairs would move, and the microwave buttons seemed to be pushed when no one was in the kitchen.

PETE: What is your dream vacation spot? Why? What would you want to do there?
KAYLEE: I would want to go to Australia because I would want to go see everything that Sydney has to offer and then go scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef. I would also want to play with kangaroos.

PETE: What is your favorite restaurant in the world? What do you order? 
KAYLEE: Culver's - Chicken Tenders Kids Meal

PETE: What does your dream life after retirement look like?  
KAYLEE: Living somewhere warm, but also traveling and seeing places that I have never been before. Also, I would like to have at least 2 or 3 dogs.

PETE: Where or who do you get your inspiration from?
KAYLEE: My family and one of my high school coaches

PETE: If you could sing a duet with someone, who would it be? What song?        
KAYLEE: Garth Brooks - Callin' Baton Rouge

PETE: What is one cause that you hold dear to your heart? Why?     
KAYLEE: Ronald McDonalds because it really helped some close family friends when they were in need

PETE: What is your go-to karaoke song?     
KAYLEE: Party for Two by Shania Twain

PETE: If you were a rap artist, what would your stage name be?       
KAYLEE: KayDawg

PETE: What category would you own in a trivia competition?
KAYLEE: Criminal Minds

PETE: Who would your dream co-star be in a movie?    
KAYLEE: Zac Efron

PETE: What would you bring on a one-way trip to Mars?         
KAYLEE: A travel bag with clothes and all my bathroom things, my phone and charger, and Tommy (my turtle pillow pet) and a blanket.

PETE: What is your go-to home workout?
KAYLEE: Cardio, biking, or rollerblading
