THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK SOFTBALL… Upper Iowa continues non-conference action with 10 games at the PFX Spring Games held in Florida between Mar. 7-12. The Peacocks will face programs from eight different states and will play two games each day with the team's free day being on Monday. This will be UIU's third spring break excursion to Florida since 2016; Upper Iowa went 15-3 in the last two trips.

LAST AT BAT… Upper Iowa is coming off a three-game series against Drury University where the Peacocks won the opening game but dropped the final two tilts. UIU tallied 21 hits over the weekend but struggled to push runners across the plate; Upper Iowa came to the plate seven times with the bases loaded, but the Panthers allowed just one hit in those at-bats and held the team to just eight runs for the series. Freshman
Kaitlyn Carlson reached base seven out of nine times thanks to five walks and a pair of hits to lead the team, while
Kennedy Newell and
Jordyn Brennan each tallied four hits and the duo of
Ali Green and
Katie Crogan drove in two runs apiece.
Emily Kisch picked up her first win of the season while striking out eight batters and posting a 1.91 earned run average in 11.0 innings pitched.

ON THE HORIZON… After returning from Florida, Upper Iowa will have one last non-conference trip before opening the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schedule. The Peacocks will head to St. Joseph, Mo. for six games at the HyVee Softball Classic on Mar. 20-22. Upper Iowa then returns home for four straight home doubleheaders against Winona State University (3/24), Northern State University (3/28), Minnesota State University Moorhead (3/29), and Concordia University, St. Paul (4/1). Later this season the Peacocks will also welcome Wayne State College (4/7), University of Minnesota Crookston (4/10), Bemidji State University (4/11), and Augustana University (4/21) to Eischeid Softball Complex.  Â
