In the team's return to action at the PFX Spring Games in Florida, Upper Iowa posted a pair of shutouts against Saint Thomas Aquinas College and Bloomfield College on Tuesday afternoon. The Peacocks bested the Spartans by a slim 1-0 advantage and the Bears by a 6-0 final score to improve to 5-8 on the season. Upper Iowa has a quartet of games left down south starting with Assumption College and No. 16 University of Indianapolis on Wednesday.   

Eight Peacocks registered a hit between the games led by Jordyn Brennan, Kaitlyn Carlson and Kennedy Newell who all finished with two. Katie Crogan led the team in the RBI department with two thanks to her second long ball of the season. Both Emily Kisch and Abby McKay earned wins in the circle while combining for 10 strikeouts. 

Upper Iowa 1, Saint Thomas Aquinas 0
After the teams battled through four and a half scoreless innings, the Peacocks finally scratched the scoreboard with the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs in the frame, Jordyn Brennan successfully stole second base to put a runner in scoring position for UIU. Ali Green then singled up the middle to send her teammate back to the dugout with a 1-0 lead, and starting pitcher Abby McKay held STAC to just one base runner in the final two frames to aid the Peacocks in securing their first shutout of the year.

McKay went the distance for Upper Iowa to collect her third straight victory. The freshman scattered six hits throughout the contest while striking out four.

Upper Iowa 6, Bloomfield 0
The Peacocks were quick to score in the second game thanks to two runs on a hit and three BC errors in the top of the first inning. Upper Iowa would take advantage of another miscue in the next frame to go ahead 3-0 before Sara Jessie's rbi-single scored Calista Brockman in the third to push UIU's lead to four scores. 

Katie Crogan roped a home run over the fence in the top of the fourth to score herself and Ali Green who reached with a single up the middle. The bomb was her second of the season and gave Upper Iowa a 6-0 advantage that it would hold on to for the victory. 

Emily Kisch also went the distance for the Peacocks en route to her first complete game win of the season. She gave up just five hits and three walks in the game while striking out six batters.
