PEACOCK STORYLINES...
LAST WEEK: The Peacocks got back on the diamond for the first time in April last week as they hosted their home opener against Concordia-St. Paul and traveled to the dome in St. Cloud for the weekend. Upper Iowa went 2-4 for the week, earning a split at home against the Golden Bears, 7-3 & 4-3. UIU used a walk-off win in the eighth inning to complete the comeback against CSP, with
Katie Crogan delivering the walk-off double to right center. The team then traveled to the St. Cloud for doubleheaders against Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State, and after falling twice to the Bulldogs, earned a split with the Huskies to close out the week. UIU picked up a win in the opener against SCSU, with
Emily Kisch earning the complete-game victory.
FAYETTE SLUGGER: Freshman
Katie Crogan is hitting for power for the Peacocks this season, leading the team with a .616 slugging percentage, which ranks in the top 20 in the Northern Sun Conference. Opposing pitchers cannot keep Crogan in the ballpark right now, as the Watertown, Wis. native has hit seven home runs this season, ranking seventh in the league. Crogan hit a pair of homers against St. Cloud State last Saturday, including the game-winning three-run shot in the seventh inning in game one. Crogan has played in all 32 games and leads the way with nine doubles and 30 runs batted in. Her 20 runs scored tie for the team lead as well.
ON DECK: The Peacocks will hit the road for their longest trip of the season this Saturday and Sunday, Apr. 21-22, in North Dakota. The team travels to Bismarck first for a doubleheader with the Marauders of the University of Mary on Saturday at 1 p.m., before rounding out the weekend in Minot against the Beavers of Minot State University on Sunday at 11 a.m.
