THIS WEEKEND IN PEACOCK SOFTBALL…
Upper Iowa (13-7, 0-0 NSIC) will hit the road for a busy opening week of softball in the Northern Sun Conference. The Peacocks will travel to Winona, Minn. for a date with the #8 Warriors of Winona State University on Tuesday, Mar. 27 at 3 p.m. UIU will then travel to Marshall, Minn. and Sioux Falls, S.D. for an Easter weekend trip to face the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University and the Cougars of the University of Sioux Falls. UIU and SMSU gets underway on Friday, Mar. 30 at 2 p.m., and UIU and USF begins at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 31.

PEACOCK STORYLINES...
BACK TO ACTION: The Peacocks will hit the diamond Tuesday for the first time since Mar. 19. Upper Iowa went 1-3 at the HyVee Softball Classic in Maryville, Mo. and St. Joseph, Mo. UIU lost the opener to the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats before earning a 13-4 win over the Central Missouri Jennies. The team was then swept on the final day by Missouri Western State and Washburn to close out the non-conference schedule.
IN THE CIRCLE: Through 20 games in the circle, the Peacock pitching staff has put together a 2.69 earned run average, ranking fourth in the Northern Sun Conference.
Emily Kisch leads the team with a 2.40 ERA, and has a 7-4 record so far this season. Her seven complete games rank seventh in the league, and the sophomore has logged a team-best 61.1 innings of work.
Jaclyn Thompson is 4-3 with a 2.75 earned run average, and ranks third in the NSICÂ with an opponent batting average of .194.
GET TO THE FOURTH: If the Peacocks can get through the fourth inning, they feel like they have a good chance to win. Upper Iowa is 9-0 on the season when leading after four, and is just 2-7 when they trail after the fourth frame. As far as scoring goes early on in the game, the Peacocks are 7-1 when they score first in a game, including a 4-0 record when they score in the first inning.
