PEACOCK STORYLINES...
HOME SWEEP: The Peacocks pushed their winning streak to three this past weekend in Fayette with wins over Wayne State (73-68) and Augustana (87-77). UIU held off the Wildcats late in a defensive battle before outscoring the Vikings on Senior Day behind
Carson Parker's 28 points.
WHAT'S UP "DOC": Fifth-year Head Coach
Brooks McKowen made history in the win over Augustana last Saturday night. The win gave him 88 for his career at UIU, moving him past legendary coach John "Doc" Dorman for fourth on the all-time list in program history. McKowen has 61 NSIC wins, the most in Upper Iowa men's basketball history.
"PARK"-ING ONLY: Senior
Carson Parker has continued to impress late in the season for the Peacocks. The guard scored 47 more points on Senior Weekend, pushing his career total to 1,458, good for eighth all-time in program history. Parker has tallied 10 20-point games this season, the most in a single-season in UIU's NCAA Division II history. His 27 double-digit performances are also the best mark in a single season at the D-II level.
REESE'S PIECES: Jareese Williams has been a big piece of the offense lately for the Peacocks. The redshirt freshman has 34 points in the last four games, including a 14-point effort in the win over Augustana. Williams has hit 10 three-pointers during that span, including a 4-8 performance against the Vikings. For the season, the Mason City, Iowa native is averaging 5.3 points per game, and is shooting 43% from behind the arc.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY: For the first time in the six-year history of the 16-team NSIC Tournament bracket, the Peacocks will go on the road. UIU hosted first-round games each of the last five seasons, going 5-0 in such games. Upper Iowa is 8-5 in the conference tournament, including a run to the championship game a season ago.
