Box Score 2 The Peacocks dropped both games on Friday to open the Lewis Flyer Dome Invitational. UIU fell 3-2 in 10 innings to William Jewell in game one, then dropped game two to Lewis 10-0 in five innings.

Upper Iowa is back in action on Saturday at the Dome Invitational in Rosemont, Ill., with a pair of games. The Peacocks will start with a game against Illinois Springfield at 3:30 p.m., followed by a game against Missouri S&T at 8 p.m.

William Jewell 3, Upper Iowa 2 (10 innings)Â
Upper Iowa dropped the opening game of the Lewis Flyer Dome Invitational to the Cardinals of William Jewell, 3-2, in 10 innings. Senior
Jacqueline Flood (1-4) took the loss, but pitched all 10 innings and plated both Peacock runs.

The Peacocks got on the board first when sophomore
Sammy Garrett singled, stole second, advanced to third on a freshman
Jenny Budds single. Garrett came around to score on a Cardinal error, giving Upper Iowa a 1-0 in the bottom of the third.

William Jewell finally tied the game, 1-1, in the top of the seventh, when the leadoff hitter hit a solo home run to left field, just the third hit of the game allowed by Peacock pitcher Flood.

Starting in the eighth inning, runners were put on second to start the inning. The Cardinals bunted their runner to third then scored on a passed ball to take the lead 2-1. Upper Iowa responded in their half of the eighth to keep the game going as junior
Riley Kruel scored on a Flood ground out.

After a scoreless ninth, the Cardinals singled home their runner from second to take a 3-2 lead in the tenth inning. In the bottom half of the tenth inning, UIU loaded the bases with two outs, but flew out to end the game.

Lewis 10, Upper Iowa 0 (5 innings)Â
In game two of the day, Upper Iowa fell to the tournament host Lewis Flyers 10-0 in five innings.

The Flyers tallied a pair of runs in the first and second innings, then put the game away with six runs on three hits and three errors in the fourth inning.

Brooke Redmond (2-2) took the loss, throwing 1.2 innings, surrendering three runs on three hits.
