KEY NOTES TO CONSIDER
1 Â Â Â BREAKING THE STREAK:Â Upper Iowa broke an 11-game losing streak last weekend with a 1-0 pitcher's duel win over #16 Central Oklahoma. After starting the year 3-12, the Peacocks have now won two of their last four games heading into the conference season.
Â
2 Â Â Â HITTING ON ALL CYLINDERS: Â Peacock batting average and hits leader
Jacqueline Flood has been hitting the ball well regardless of what position she is put in. As a pitcher, Flood is hitting her highest batting average at .464 in 28 at-bats. The Mount Vernon, Ill. native is also hitting a team-best .462 at first base and .333 as the designated hitter. The only position where Flood has struggled at the plate was in emergency service at second base, where she hit .133 in a handful of at-bats.
Â
3 Â Â Â KIRGAN'S COMING AROUND:Â Last season, junior first baseman
Erica Kirgan hit a team-high 11 home runs. After starting the season slowly, Kirgan has picked up her play at the plate, collecting a hit in seven of the last nine games, raising her batting average 59 points over that period. She also added her second home run of the season in a 3-for-3 effort against Pittsburg State on Mar. 22.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTSvs. BEMIDJI STATE: The Beavers are 11-7 overall and 2-0 in conference after picking up a pair of wins against Minnesota Crookston on Tuesday.
