KEY NOTES TO CONSIDER

1       BREAKING THE STREAK:
Upper Iowa broke an 11-game losing streak last weekend with a 1-0 pitcher's duel win over #16 Central Oklahoma. After starting the year 3-12, the Peacocks have now won two of their last four games heading into the conference season.

2      HITTING ON ALL CYLINDERS:  Peacock batting average and hits leader Jacqueline Flood has been hitting the ball well regardless of what position she is put in. As a pitcher, Flood is hitting her highest batting average at .464 in 28 at-bats. The Mount Vernon, Ill. native is also hitting a team-best .462 at first base and .333 as the designated hitter. The only position where Flood has struggled at the plate was in emergency service at second base, where she hit .133 in a handful of at-bats.

3       KIRGAN'S COMING AROUND:  Last season, junior first baseman Erica Kirgan hit a team-high 11 home runs. After starting the season slowly, Kirgan has picked up her play at the plate, collecting a hit in seven of the last nine games, raising her batting average 59 points over that period. She also added her second home run of the season in a 3-for-3 effort against Pittsburg State on Mar. 22.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS

vs. BEMIDJI STATE: The Beavers are 11-7 overall and 2-0 in conference after picking up a pair of wins against Minnesota Crookston on Tuesday. BSU went 7-5 on its Spring Break trip in Arizona, but won four straight in the middle of the trip and finished winning six of nine. Bemidji State boasts one the NSIC's top hitters in junior outfielder Lyndsey Peterson. Peterson ranks eighth in the conference in batting average (.436), slugging percentage (.691) and is seventh in on-base percentage (.516). Sophomore outfielder Angie Roberts leads the team in hits with 26 and is hitting a very-respectable .406 on the season.

vs. MINNESOTA CROOKSTON: The Golden Eagles are 4-16 this season and 0-2 in conference, dropping their NSIC openers to Bemidji State. UMC lost its first eight games to start the year, but then won two of three to start their Spring Break trip, only to finish the trip at 4-6. Minnesota Crookston is led by freshman outfielder Victoria Bayliss, who is hitting .418 this season. Junior infielder Allison Foley is not far behind, compiling a .413 batting average. Senior infielder Shelby Hollinger leads the team with five home runs.
