Box Score 2 On day one at the D2 Midwest Region Dome Invitational in Rosemont, Ill., Upper Iowa dropped its fourth straight game of the season in the afternoon but cruised to victory in the evening. With the split, the Peacocks move to 2-4 on the season.
In game one of the day, UIU faced the #5 Tritons of Missouri-St. Louis. UMSL scored one in the first and three in the third to take an early 4-0 lead. The Peacocks responded with three hits and two runs in the top of the fourth to get right back into the game, but the Tritons answered back with six runs in the bottom of the inning to regain control. The Peacocks went quietly in the top of the fifth to end the game. Brooke Remond took the loss for the Peacocks, allowing seven runs (five earned) in four innings of work.Â
Game two went much better for UIU, as they picked up a 12-1, five-inning win over Missouri S&T. The Peacocks jumped on the Miners early, scoring in each of the first four innings. Upper Iowa put up a three-spot in the first, six in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth. In all, eight Peacocks picked up hits in the game, including a towering
Jacqueline Flood home run, her second of the year. Flood also picked up the win on the mound, hurling eight strike outs across five innings.Â
