THIS WEEKEND IN MEN'S BASKETBALL... The Peacocks will close out the regular season at home as they host two NSIC-South teams. On Friday, UIU will face the Vikings of Augustana (14-12, 11-9 NSIC) at 8 p.m. Then on Saturday, the Peacocks will host the Wildcats of Wayne State (8-16, 5-15 NSIC) at 6 p.m.

THE SERIES... Since 2005, the Peacocks and Vikings have met 13 times, with Upper Iowa taking four of those contests. The Peacocks defeated Augustana 84-79 two weekends ago in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Augustana led by 10 points with eight and a half minutes to play, but a 13-3 run by Upper Iowa tied the game, 73-73, and the Peacocks outscored their hosts 11-6 for the win. Despite a 20-point victory in Wayne, Neb. earlier this season, the Wildcats lead the Peacocks 6-5 in their series dating back to the 2007-08 season. UIU sealed a 73-53 victory earlier this season thanks to a 46-27 advantage in the 2nd half.

LEADING THE VIKINGS... Casey Schilling (18.9 ppg, 50% FG, 8.6 rpg, 3.1 apg, 2 spg, 1.1 bpg), Daniel Jansen (16.4 ppg, 50% FG, 5.5 rpg, 1 apg, .5 bpg), Matthew Brazendale (8.6 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.6 apg), Yuriy Malashenko (7.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg, .9 apg)

LEADING THE WILDCATS... Adol Aluong (12.6 ppg, 44% FG, 3.7 rpg, 2 apg), Ty Bauschek (12.2 ppg, 4 rpg, 2.1 apg, .8 spg), Ryan Rolfzen (9.9 ppg, 40% FG, 3.9 rpg, .5 bpg), Jared Bartling (8.2 ppg, 53% FG, 4.4 rpg, .9 apg, .4 spg)

SENIOR NIGHT... Just before Saturday's contest with Wayne State, the Peacocks will honor their four seniors - Trevor Hook, Logan Johnson, David Smith and Joey Woods. This group of upperclassmen has played in a total of 236 games while scoring 1196 points, collecting 466 rebounds and amassing 171 steals.

"JIMMY" JOHNS... For the first time this season, freshman wing Jimmy Roth led the Peacocks in scoring with 19 points this past Saturday against SCSU. The Linn-Mar High School graduate is fourth on the team in scoring at 10.1 points per game and rebounding at 3.3 boards per contest. His 19 points was a career-high breaking his previous mark of 18 versus MSU Moorhead.

"GRANT"-IN-AID SCHOLARSHIP... There's no doubt junior wing Grant Lang has provided a little aid from beyond the arc for UIU this season. Not only does the Ankeny, Iowa native averaged 12.4 ppg (23rd in the NSIC), but he ranks 7th in the league in 3-point FG percentage (.445) and 2nd in 3s per game (2.5).

"WEEBER" FEVER... Freshman post Josh Weeber currently ranks 24th in the NSIC this year with 12.3 points per game. The rookie has led all freshmen in scoring this year and has 15 double-digit scoring outings this year, including four straight.

LAST WEEK...
For the Vikings... Augie's Daniel Jansen averaged 24.5 points, six rebounds and four assists as the Vikings split their final regular season home games last weekend. The sophomore recorded his fourth double-double of the season (seventh career) going for 26 points and 10 rebounds on 8 of 16 shooting in a 92-88 win over MSU Moorhead. Jansen followed that up with a game-high 23 points against Northern State on Saturday while shooting 6 of 12 from the field, hitting three 3-pointers and dishing out four assists. Jansen has now scored 20 or more points in a game 12 times in his career, including 10 this season.

For the Wildcats... Senior WSC center Jared Bartling averaged 15 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in two home Wildcat losses over the weekend against Northern State and MSU Moorhead. Bartling accounted for a career-high 24 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double in four games during Saturday's 95-84 setback against MSU Moorhead. Bartling was 6 for 9 from the field and 12 of 14 at the charity stripe in his final home game at Rice Auditorium. Wayne State's four seniors scored 62 of the team's 84 points. For the weekend, Bartling shot 57.1 percent (8-14) from the field and 77.8 percent (14-18) at the charity stripe.
