Upper Iowa Head Golf Coach
Mike Lewis announced the signing of Megan Joerger to a National Letter of Intent for the 2013-14 academic year this week. Joerger – a high school senior this year – committed to continue her academic and athletic career at Upper Iowa University come next Fall.
"I am very excited for Megan to join us at UIU next Fall," Lewis said. "I feel that she can be an instant contributor to the travel squad as a freshman."
Joerger is a senior at Charles City High School in Charles City, Iowa and has impressed Lewis with three outstanding seasons on the fairway. For three consecutive years, Joerger has earned a spot on the all-state golf team, the all-conference team and she was a Northeast Iowa Conference Champion following her junior year. Competing in the Iowa State Golf Tournament, Joerger produced a top-five finish all three times.
"Megan has had a great high school career thus far and is looking to finish strong in her final Spring season as a Comet," Lewis said. "Her willingness to improve her game is just one of the things that I liked about Megan. I believe that she will succeed both on the course and in the classroom at UIU."
Joerger is also a prime example of a student-athlete as she was awarded an Academic Achievement Award last season. She is the daughter of Curt and Kim Joerger and will study exercise science at Upper Iowa.
