The Wrestling Alumni Day scheduled for today has been postponed due to the weather until the Peacocks' next home dual, Feb. 10, against St. Cloud State. If the weather or roads (
Check the Iowa Road Conditions Here) keep you away from Dorman Gym today, don't worry. You can still watch the dual live through a video webcast and check out the results as they happen. The links for all three can be found below.

Today in Peacock Wrestling… Upper Iowa welcome the Wolves of Northern State University to Dorman Gym today. The Peacocks have opened the NSIC season with a 2-1 mark thanks to wins over U-Mary, 36-9, and Minot State (40-11). Thursday night Upper Iowa traveled to Mankato, Minn. to face the #13 Mavericks of Minnesota State; MSU upset UIU 21-15 after winning six of the ten matches.
Peacocks in the Polls... Upper Iowa is currently ranked #6 in the latest NWCA Top 20 Poll and five individuals are also ranked in the top 8 in the nation. The ranked Peacocks are Trevor Franklin (133, #2), Wade Gobin (165, #4), Blake Sorensen (174, #8), Mitch Schultz (184, #6), and Carl Broghammer (197, #1).
Sizing Up the Wolves... Northern State won the opening and closing matches on Friday night, but eight straight wins by the visiting Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs through the middle weights proved to be too much for the Wolves, who dropped a 32-8 decision to the Mustangs. Sophomore
Anthony Bruno opened the night with a 4-2 decision over SMSU's Ed Reno at 125 pounds and senior Matt Meuleners closed the dual with a dominant 19-4 technical fall win.
Man on a Mission... Carl Broghammer has won three straight matches by fall to improve to 31-2 on the season. Broghammer has 16 pins this season, which tie him for second in the country among all divisions. His only two losses are against a pair of Division I foes and he has now won 16 straight matches. Broghammer has earned bonus points in 24 of his 33 matches.
How the Peacocks fared on Thursday night… A matchup of top-fifteen ranked teams took place in Mankato, Minn. Thursday night. The No. 13 Mavericks of Minnesota State upset the No. 6 Peacocks, 21-15, thanks to six wins including one by fall. Upper Iowa’s four wins on the night included three decisions and one by fall. Trevor Franklin, Jordan Rinken and Bryce Lumzy all picked up decisions, while Carl Broghammer hopped into the circle for the 197 pound match knowing that with UIU trailing by nine on the scoreboard, anything less than a win by fall would make it difficult to pull off the victory. The redshirt junior wasted little time scoring a takedown and worked hard on his opponent to turn him over and get the pin just over two minutes into the match.
Who's Next... Upper Iowa will travel to Marshall, Minn. and Moorhead, Minn. for a pair of NSIC duals this coming weekend. The Peacocks will line up against the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University on Friday night at 7 p.m. and then move north to face the Dragons of Minnesota State University Moorhead on Saturday at 3 p.m.
