Game One Box Score

Game Two Box Score

The Peacocks swept the Beavers of Bemidji State on Senior Day in Fayette by scores of 1-0 and 5-1.  Upper Iowa recognized their four seniors prior to the game; Kylee Knop, Trisha Hagensick, Erin Van Praag and Laura Tackenberg were all honored.  UIU pitchers threw well allowing just one run on nine hits on the day.

The two wins improved the team's record to 18-35 and gave the Peacocks three times more wins than last year.  The marked improvement showed through in NSIC games as the team finished 10-16.

Game One Recap

Knop earned her tenth win of the season with a complete game shutout. The senior threw seven innings allowing just two hits while striking out eight Beaver hitters.

The Peacocks scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Missy Olson doubled to left with one out and scored when a Hailley Haning single to left was mishandled.

Olson and Haning each had two of the Peacock seven hits, while three other Peacocks had one hit each.

Bemidji State threatened in the fourth when they put runners on second and third with one out. The Peacock defense recorded the second out at home on a fielder's choice. The Beavers then loaded the bases thanks to a walk, but Katie Mnichowicz gloved a soft liner at shortstop to close the inning.

Game Two Recap

Rachael Anello doubled to open the second inning and came home on an rbi-groundout off the bat of Knop.

The Beavers tied the score in the fourth inning whn Kayla Babinski hit a solo homer to left.

In the fifth, the home team loaded the bases after a walk and two sacrifice bunts that were misplayed by the Beaver infield. Mnichowicz, Haning, and Anello all singled to drive in a run and leave the bases loaded with no outs. Leading 4-1, Knop earned the final rbi of the inning on a fielder's choice.

Jenna Hermsen earned the win in relief of starter Brooklyn Koranda.  Koranda threw 4.2 innings allowing one run on four hits, while Hermsen threw 2.1 innings and did not allow a run on three hits with a pair of strikeouts.

At the plate, Mnichowicz picked up three hits, while Anello reached safely twice via hits.
