Game One Box Score

Game Two Box Score

The Peacock softball team played their third double header in three days this afternoon in Sioux Falls, S.D.  Upper Iowa dropped a pair of NSIC contests to the #21 Vikings of Augustana College by counts of 7-0 and 7-3.  Following the losses, UIU's record dips to 16-33 overall and 8-14 in conference action.

Augustana dominated the first game after scoring three runs in the opening frame.  Jenelle Trautmann held the Peacock offense to just five hits over her five innings while striking out five to earn the win.

After the Vikings' three-run outburst in the first inning, the home team added a run in the third, two in the fourth and one more in the sixth.

Jenna Hermsen suffered the loss for UIU allowing six runs on seven hits over her 3.1 innings.  Brooklyn Koranda worked well in relief only allowing a run on four hits in her 2.2 innings of relief.

In the second game, the Vikings struck for four runs in the bottom of the first thanks to five hits including a leadoff homerun.

The Peacocks cut the gap in half in the second thanks to a two-out, two-run homer by Erin Van Praag that plated Rachael Anello, who reached on a double earlier in the inning.

Augustana scored a run in the fourth inning, but UIU answered with a run in the fifth.  The Peacocks loaded the bases with one out in the fifth, but the second out of the inning was made on a force out at home.  With two outs, an infield error allowed one run to score on a Katie Mnichowicz grounder, but the visitors couldn't do any more damage and left three runners on with the final out.

The Vikings picked up some insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings to push their lead to four, 7-3, and the Peacock bats couldn't rally with an answer.

Knop took the loss for UIU after throwing six innings and allowing the seven runs on eleven hits.

Bailee Haberman tallied two hits in the game as UIU collected just six against the Viking starter, Ashley Meyer, and reliever, Chelsey Durland.

Upper Iowa will return to Fayette for the final weekend of the regular season this Saturday and Sunday, Apr. 21-22.  The Peacocks will host the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth on Saturday and the Beavers of Bemidji State on Sunday.
