The Wolves outlasted the Peacocks in a game one shootout, 11-8, and then completed the sweep with a 3-0 shutout.  After the two losses, Upper Iowa is now 16-31 overall and 8-12 in the NSIC.  The two games were played in Sioux Falls, S.D. today after being postponed in Aberdeen, S.D.  yesterday due to rain and wind.

In the first game, Northern State put a run on the board in the first, but Upper Iowa answered quickly with three runs in the second.  The Peacocks strung five hits together including an rbi-single by Erin Van Praag, a Missy Olson run-scoring double and a Katie Mnichowicz infield single that pushed the final run across.

The Wolves weren't behind for long scoring three runs of their own on four hits and retaking their one run advantage.  NSU then looked to put the game away with five runs on six hits in the third inning pulling out to a 9-3 lead.

In the fifth inning, the Peacocks loaded the bases with one out and thanks to an error each run that followed for UIU was unearned.  The scoring spree which brought the visitors within one, 9-8.  Kylee Knop, Bailee Haberman, Rachael Anello and Van Praag all pushed runs across the plate. 

Northern State stole the momentum back right away in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a two-run shot that became the final runs in the game as the Wolves held on for an 11-8 win.

Jenna Hermsen suffered the loss for Upper Iowa.  At the plate, Mnichowicz, Anello and Van Praag all tallied a pair of hits.

In the second game, the Wolves' starter Kelli Bornander threw a complete game shutout holding the Peacock bats to just two hits. 

On the other side of the field, Upper Iowa's hurler, Knop, threw very well allowing just three hits over her six innings.

The pitching duel went in favor of Northern State after scoring two runs in the first inning with two of the their three hits and adding the final run in the second inning thanks to a leadoff walk and a sac fly later in the inning.

The Peacocks threatened in the first and second innings, but left five runners on base in the early innings.

Hailley Haning and Olson accounted for the two Peacock hits in the game.

Upper Iowa will remain in Sioux Falls, S.D. tonight and match up with the Vikings of Augustana College Tuesday afternoon beginning at 3 p.m.
