This Week in Peacock Softball... Upper Iowa returns to the friendly confines of the Eischeid Softball Complex in Fayette this week to open a 12-game, 6-date home stand that spans the next two weeks. The Peacocks will open the long stand on Wednesday, Mar. 28, as they host the Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul. First pitch for the mid-week NSIC matchup is set for 2 p.m. UIU will then host the #5 Warriors of Winona State University on Saturday in another Northern Sun Conference double header on Saturday, Mar. 31.
Swing for Life... The Peacock softball team will Swing for Life this Saturday as they look to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. A signed Jennie Finch poster and pink glove signed by the team will be available for fans to bid on through a silent auction with all of the proceeds going to the Swing for Life. UIU’s own Karla Gavin will be throwing out the first pitch and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee will be running games and activities with various breast cancer awareness prizes.
On the horizon... The Peacocks will close out this long home stand next week with another trio of double headers. Upper Iowa will host St. Cloud State University on Tuesday at 2 p.m. and then welcome Minnesota State University, Mankato on Friday and Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday; both games over the weekend are scheduled for 1 p.m.
