Final Dual of 2010-11 Season...
The #10 Peacocks will wrestle in their final dual of the season this Thursday night at MSU Moorhead. Upper Iowa will look to claim fourth place in the NSIC standings with a victory over the Dragons.
Peacocks in the Polls...
Upper Iowa is currently ranked #10 in the latest NWCA Top 20 Poll and six individuals are also ranked in the top 8 in the nation. The ranked Peacocks are Trevor Franklin (125, #2), Kyle Pedretti (133, #4), Mark Mueller (174, #8), Mitch Schultz (184, #8), Carl Broghammer (197, #8), and Zach Rosol (285, #4).
Scouting the Dragons...
The Dragons have won three straight duals including a 30-13 win over Northern State. MSU Moorhead is led by two nationally-ranked wrestlers. Corey Ulmer is ranked #3 at 125 pounds and has a 20-4 record this year. Brady Schneeberger is ranked #3 at 141 pounds and has a 9-9 record.
Looking Ahead...
Thursday’s dual with MSU Moorhead will be the final tune up prior to the NCAA Super Regional III in Sioux Falls, S.D. The regional will take place on Sunday, Feb. 27, and feature ten wrestlers from each of the eight NSIC teams, as well as ten wrestlers from Indianapolis, Newman, and Wisconsin-Parkside. Of the 110 wrestlers competing, only 40 (four per weight class) will qualify to represent their institutions at the NCAA Championships in Kearney, Neb. on March 11-12.
